I harbor no ill will towards AJ. I am excited to see what players like Phelps, Warren, D.J. Mitchell can do if one of our SPs go down.
Burnett's time with the men in pinstripes was lukewarm while it lasted, but he got his WS ring for a 2nd time in his career (1st was with the Marlins). Now, it's time to move on. Farewell, AJ. Good luck with Pittsburgh
Good to get rid of him but it's hard to hold a grudge since he was on the 09 roster. His numbers were glaringly mediocre but he ate up innings and notched 13 wins.
He wasn't just on the roster, either; the Yanks probably don't win the WS without Burnett's Game 2 gem.
Absolutely but his very next start he couldn't make it out of the second inning if I remember correctly..
AJ, despite being mostly junk, had a couple of big postseason wins (Including the huge game 2 WS performance in '09). That automatically buys at least a little good faith with fans. Again......a little. Obviously helping to win the WS > helping to win the AL East.
I get that, but based on what we'd seen in the 2011 season Garcia was way more dependable. Neither was going to be in the playoff rotation so I'll go with Garcia/Hughes instead of Burnett because of his salary for the #5.
Wow. That looks painful. http://espn.go.com/blog/new-york/yankees/post/_/id/28320/video-a-j-bunts-ball-off-face
