Yea... because the spygate thing was about video taping DEFENSIVE signals.. so what would that have to do with stopping the greatest show on turf or the Giants offense?
Ummm... He never got "out-coached", the players made so many critical mistakes throughout the game, including Brady's first play from scrimmage for a safety. The defense also forced 3 fumbles in that game, the one that they recovered was called back because of too many men on the field and the other 2 happened to bounce favorably for the Giants. A bunch of critical 4th quarter drops by the receivers as well, and that Manningham catch down the sideline was a ridiculous catch and a ridiculous throw.. That is impossible to cover.
Except he was. If a coach can be given nearly-complete credit over a Superbowl win then he can also be given some blame when he loses. Obviously Belichick is a good coach -- I think he is a great coach. However, because he lost the Superbowl, he was "out-coached."
Well he only put up what was it 17 points ? That seems pretty damn low in todays nfl, especially when you have a QB who is known for being one of the best in the regular season before choking in the playoffs.
It seems many of you didn't get the concept of you can't cover all 3 receivers with a hall of fame QB throwing to them... Bellicheat couldn't have done anything to prevent it with his current squad... Oh well...
He got outcoached. You let Bradshaw score on first down, you don't waste a timeout and let him score on 2nd down. Also kept Gronk out there even though the Giants defense knew he was a decoy as seen in the Sound FX. Sending 12 men means making late personell changes, which should fall on Bill since he is the HC/OC/DC/GM of that team. Using the challenge on the Manningham catch was risky too. It was a catch on the field and he was on the sideline so he should have only thrown it if he personally or someone saw something specific on why that was incomplete. That also cost them a valuable TO. He didn't do a very good job coaching and then his players also didn't execute, especially his HOF QB.
It was a miracle play, the kind of play that happens when a 9-7 team goes on a run to win a SB I'm no fan of BB, but what should he have done, leave Cruz or Nickx open? And, if I'm not mistaken , weren't there two Pats' DBs covering Manninham?
Blow yourself. Both Inches. 2 AFCCG under Schitty...this guy clearly sucks...what, were you 3 when the Offensive genius Bruce Coslet brought Boomer in, and threw KennyO overboard. (Ummm The Fake spike game, who threw two picks, to make that happen BTW???) Sanchez is the most capable passer this team has had since OB (He's just like Vinny, though shorter), and OBs the best guy since Namath.
I have to wonder why these morons keep creeping up here. Like the stupidity seen around the board isn't quite enough already, eh?
lol. Sanchez is trash. not getting to the Superbowl 2 years back to back is not an accomplishment. 30 teams do that every year.
The comment about making them go to manningham is funny and ironic but its not a knock on bill...that was the right strategy. Eli and manningham just made a great play. Pats couldn't keep up with those 3.
He did get outcoached. Manningham had a drop when he was wide open earlier (due to excess attention being paid to Cruz and Nicks). Manningham also was open on a go route but didn't keep his feet in bounds. He was open because he was in single coverage (again , due to the focus being on Cruz and Nicks). He had 2 opportunities to see that Manningham was capable of producing with the way the defense was playing him; either he didn't recognize this or simply thought Manningham would keep making mistakes. Either way it's bad coaching. Calling a deep pass against a fierce (and rested) pass-rush when you're on your own 2 yardline is bad coaching. They should have run the ball, tried a screen, or done something to get the ball out fast. They called play action (stupid to do considering they hadn't established the run in that game or during the season) and paid for Brady taking what amounted to a 5 step drop. Play action is a slow-developing process that requires the QB look away from the field. In that situation it was a stupid call. The Giants didn't bite, covered well, and got to him. Bill was outcoached in that instance as well. Also, 12 men on the field is a mistake that is ALL on coaching; so there's that. And finally, for a guy that BB was devoting his defensive genius towards removing from the game, Nicks still caught 10 passes for over 100 yards. Cruz had the Giants lone receiving TD and picked up 2 other first downs with his 2 other catches. Belichick didn't even accomplish what he was ignoring Manningham to focus on. He got outcoached. *drops mic, walks off stage*
Well put. A lot of Bostonions don't like to admit that the Great Bill could ever make a mistake or that the Amazing Brady didn't play very well.
It's because they are immature fans. Not immature in the not liking girls yet sense {insert legalized gay marriage joke HERE} but immature in the sense that they haven't been with their team through thick and thin and haven't had to accept that their team has been "good, but not good enough" at times. They have to view them as perfect (like in the early 2000s) or awful (like they did pretty much any time prior to the year 2000). It does my heart good to be a fan of the team that's helping that fanbase grow up.
the hubris of that call was fantastic. while every other team in the league plays it smart and tries to give the offense some room, Beli thinks they can likely burn the Giants deep on the very first play so he can be a Sportscenter genius.
I guess I disagree with this. I thought BB coached his ass off in this game. He got a much better performance out of his defense than I ever dreamed of! What the game came down to was execution. The Pats had at least 4 or 5 plays that would have ended the game and they didn't make them. The Giants DID make the big play when the opportunity came. Simple as that. If you want to pick a game BB was outcoached, it was the playoff game last year against the Jets.
