I don't think they would make it an open competition, but it would send a message if they signed someone like Campbell who was a starter this season until his injury. That said, I have a feeling things would have to go pretty badly for Sanchez next season for him to lose the starting spot.
This is stupid. The Jets would be lucky to get a conditional 4th round pick for Sanchez right now. He was arguably the worst QB in the NFL last season. .
Yup why would anyone trade jack squat for Sanchez who was arguably the worse qb in the league last year and assume that monster contract when they can sign Matt Flynn whos miles better then Sanchez for less?
Yes, Matt Flynn is just so great and 100% proven.....my ass. Dude cmon, your Sanchez hate makes you look horrible. You talk about people riding his dick yet you ride the dick of the Sanchez hate bandwagon so much harder. People can hate Sanchez, I understand that, but at least try and sound reasonable. You sound over dramatic and frankly ignorant with the statements you make. Trying to say a QB who has started a grand total of 2 games will be "miles" better than Mark is silly. I guess you must of thought the Kevin Kolb signing was a great one, since he was so "PROVEN" as well. Get real...
I think what people forget to realize is Sanchez was thrown under the spotlight to star his career. Remember how everyone wanted Freeman last year? and how great he was, well guess what after he had that great season the spotlight turned onto him and everyone was expecting a lot. How did he respond? completely crash and burned and regressed ALOT. I dont think Sanchez regressed between 2010 and 2011, but I can say Freeman fell off of a cliff and is argueably the worst QB in the NFL last season. Sanchez has faired well with all the pressure on him. In his rookie year he couldnt just throw the ball and make mistakes like most rookie QBs get to do, he had to win.
The offense has scored more than enough PPG to win 12 games or more if our D was as good as most people think. We had to come back against Hou last year b/c the D blew a huge lead, we had to win in OT at Cle b/c the D blew a late lead. You can keep all the fantasy #s, I want a QB that makes plays to win games and through 2 1/2 years Sanchez did that. he ended terribly as did the rest of the team but he was a top 10 QB in 2010 despite the #s. Mark isn't a piler on, he doesn't pad stats late in blowout wins or losses so his #s don't tend to be as good as some other QBs but in 2010 he was damn good and a major reason why we won 11 games. or TommyTom
Kevin fucking Kolb was traded for a 2nd round pick and a proven CB Charlie fucking Whitehurst was traded for the equivalent of 2 3rd round picks Jay Fucking Cutler was traded for 2 1st rounders and a 3rd rounder Matt Fucking Schaub was traded for the equivalent of 2 2nd rounders teams trade unproven QB's who turn out to be nothing but fucking garbage for a hell of a lot more than conditional 4th rounders every 2-3 years. Mark Sanchez is a PROVEN player, you guys may not like him, but he is a winner, and has taken his team to 2 straight AFCCG in his first 2 seasons, something no QB has ever done before. You may think he is fucking garbage, but i can promise you some teams out there would give us a 1st round pick for a guy with his intangibles. His potential is still sky-fucking-high. Even if he never reaches it, its still fucking there. If he were currently traded, some team would be more than willing to part with a mid-late first rounder. You had better believe his value is a hell of a lot closer to Jay Fucking Cutler, than it is to Charlie fucking Whitehurst.
Really? Thats why he's been rag dolled on every team He is no better or worse he cant even find a stable job
anyone go to nfl.com and check out career stats of our top qbs in the nfl ? try drew brees and tom brady in there third year. I would say sanchez is going to be just fine if you all go by stats.
I don't think anyone is arguing that Flynn is 100% proven. More likely, people simply feel that the upside of Flynn is better than Sanchez. Yes Flynn has only had two starts but he played well in both. And in the most recent start, Flynn had a better game than any start by Sanchez in the past three years. Does that guarantee that Flynn is a better long term prospect than Sanchez? No. But it's not unreasonable for people to think that he is.
We'll learn about Flynn when he ever plays in a big game, Sanchez has and has thrived. Flynn has played in glorified exhibition games.
That brings us back around to the question, doesn't it? "Has Mark Sanchez ever had an elite performance?"
Absolutely w/o a doubt and one of them was agianst your team on a Sunday Night in 2010. he also outplayed the best QB of this generation on the road in the div rd.
15-28, 256 yards, 3 TDs 3 touchdowns is good, but 15-28 and 256 yds isn't an elite performance by my standards. You're really lowering the bar is this is what you're offering up as elite.
