Great win , thought refs sucked with 4 Bruin pp's in a row, Cally the catalyst, Ferrence is a dick...
Alright so rangers, *cough* who's got news. Mcdonagh seems fine, ferret got 3 games. who should we trade for Every other sport is dead to me except this one
Mac got the wind knocked out of him as reported today. He's basically unscathed and back at practice. He's good to be in the lineup Tuesday against Winnipeg. I'm pretty ok with standing pat this year at the deadline. You have such a small demographic of players that would excel in the Torts system and kind of an all-in type attitude. Of course Bobby Ryan will be the big rumor at the deadline, I'm just not sure I'd be in love with what the Rangers would have to ship out to get him though.
Bobby Ryan would be here in a package for Dylan Mcilwrath or whatever...Ducks lack toughness. I dont know if the Rangers want to make such a big move though...However, out power play needs help
McIlwrath would be one of the last named guys in the deal. No chance Ducks don't demand a Dubi or Stepan + one of the young D-men.
I still feel like we might end up trading with Phoenix for Whitney and Boyd Gordon. Top 6 forward with Cup experience along with an elite faceoff specialist. Maybe a small move for defensive depth. Sauer was shut down today, who knows when he'll come back. Souray's bomb from the point could help our PP, but he couldn't skate at all last year in the AHL and it can't be that much more improved this year. He'd end up in Torts' doghouse pretty quick I think. And then there's always Ales Hemsky, who this organization seems to flirt with every single year. The key is to find balance at the deadline. We'll probably have to add one fairly big piece if we want to win the Cup, but we can't destroy the future like Smith did in '94. The good news is this is a very deep draft this year, so picks will hold more value than usual.
I want either Shane Doan or Temmu Selanne. Both are veterans that wouldn't cost much and both could help us in more than one way.
They would both cost a lot, and even so there's no chance either get moved. At this point in Temmu's career there's no chance he goes elsewhere. After such an underachieving year for that team my money is on him retiring. And Phoenix isn't going to move their literal face of the franchise and captain for a rental deal at the end of the year.
Doan's contract is up at the end of the season, why not try to get something for him before he walks? Offer Wolski and/or Christensen plus a defender and they might bite.
What do you mean by a lot? I cant see either one of them costing much due to age. Certainly not anything that would disturb the chemistry of the current team
I'm not talking cost in terms of salary. I'm saying for any player with decent value, teams are going to be looking to get one of the young Ranger d men. Besides, at least one of your guys on the wishlist is out. Ducks GM made a statement via TSN that Selanne isn't on the market (that's in addition to him having a no-trade clause). Most likely move I think will be for a veteran depth player. Never say never for a relapse into Sather's past but I don't see them budging on mortgaging a good young team's future. This isn't a team that's built for a one-year run.
Nor should they, but I think a guy like Doan would come cheaper than you'd think. Anisimov and a second rounder might be enough. We need another scorer, and badly. If Gabby's stick cools at the wrong time we're screwed.
Hey man, if you wanna hope to get someone like Doan then God bless. I just see no way they land Doan for that little. As for scoring, they are tending to rely on the top guys a little too much but they're affording to do so because they're suffocating on the defensive end. For breathing room it would be nice, but I don't know they need another big scorer. Finding some continuity on the PP is all this team needs.
