There is always the possibility they squash the beef and he remains a productive player.....

Maybe I'm being too optimistic but I'm kind of just hoping that Rex really just straightens him the fuck out.

Sits him and down and just tells him, you signed this contract, you do what you're told to do, play the game and help this team win and stop acting like such a bitch about everything and act like a professional. If it's anyone Rex needs to NOT be buddy buddy with -- it's Holmes.

Holmes cares more about the team than sanchez, always revs guys up and would be a weapon if he had a QB who actually throws it to him.

No second chances in ny? I can't stand what holmes did but the cap hit to let him go is too much.

I say keep him and if he dogs it you bench him or ban him. Do not release him! I wouldn't let him produce decent stats so he can't get another good contact. Hurt him where it hurts him the most and that's the pockets.

Part of being a team is also having faith in your QB. Maybe he's just too frustrated with Sanchez's lack of improvement, but throwing a temper tantrum over it isn't going to be productive.

No offense to the OP but the poll is pointless. The Jets do not have the cap room to cut Holmes before the new year starts. They could not cut him even if they wanted to. Because Holmes salary for 2012 is already guaranteed meaning it accelerates to 2011 if he is cut in 2011. Additionally if he is till on the roster on February 8th most (7.5 million) of his $11 million 2013 salary becomes guaranteed; Like him or not he Jets are stuck with Holmes the next two years.

The Jets only hopefull options is either Holmes comes in next year with a change of attitude, we get a NFL QB or he tests positive and gets suspended for a year and the Jets get cap relief on his signing bonus plus this years salary. Other than that Holmes can do whatever he wants the next two years.

The Sanchez/McElroy stuff is garbage. We traded up to get one and we went to back to back AFCCG's and the other one we drafted in the 7th round when it was clear nobody else wanted him. Let's be realistic that will never happen.

We had two choices, braylon or Holmes, one was a cancer and the other got injured and had character issues.

It seems like we were fucked from the get go.

Hehe. This thread title threw me off, before I opened it. My first thought was, "Why would Santonio Holmes need to start a petition?"

Thank you... so many people talk about the cap and don't know shit.

The big problem with HOlmes is if he's on the roster by the beginning of March we guarantee him ANOTHER 7 mill in 2013... let's cut him before that happens so we only owe him the guaranteed 7 in 2012 and let's be done with it.

Well I'm a realist. I gave the JETS 9-7 at the start of the season. I knew Holmes would create a rift. Now with Sparano being brought in with a greater focus on the run game. Keep Holmes, we all know what is going to happen without me saying it. The steelers didn't get rid of him cuz of money, the guy is a POS. Next season, 7-9 or 6-10.

And we still made the wrong choice, we have no way of knowing if Edwards would have gotten injured or not had he stayed in NY.

Being that this is like the 5th Holmes thread in a week or so, my response is the same. Keep him. Schotty failed to utilize him properly and is responsible for Holmes' lack of targets this season, and is most likely responsible for his discontent. I think that we'll be fine and the chemistry will return with Schotty gone. It's kind of humerus how people keep blaming everyone under the sun from Tanny to Rex to Sanchez to Holmes, but the leader of the offense gets a pass?? Hell no.

Holmes clearly has a problem with Sanchez that has nothing to do with Schotty.

I love the Jets but I swear, we have some of the most emotional, overreacting fans I've ever seen. Where was the poll BEFORE this season to cut him? Where was the poll to cut him even before the Miami game? Grow the fuck up. Stop trying to find perfect role models and watch the players for what they are...athletes. He got frustrated and acted like a diva. Big fucking deal. Almost every receiver does it. Shit, Steve Smith fist fought a few of his teammates. I've seen more polls to get rid of Holmes than I did Schotty and he stunk it up for 6 years. Where's the multiple Eric Smith polls? Where's the multiple Wayne Hunter polls? Why didn't we have 5 threads to get rid of Drew Coleman when he was here? What about Mulligan? Jets fans are the kings of knee jerk reactions.
