Ok guys, let's help our beloved team out. If Holmes is caught breaking the substance abuse policy one more time he will be suspended for a year and (I think) he won't be paid a dime by the Jets so his salary won't count against the cap. All we need to do is have him arrested for pot detention! I'm counting on you guys...
You know this thread is ironic right...? To highlight how sad it is that getting a player arrested is something we should actually hope for...
Depends on how smart Tanny is. Holmes has had drug related legal issues. Is Tanny smart enough to get clauses to protect against them?
Any Bucs fans we can ask? Tanard Jackson was suspended for a year because of it this year. MAybe we can sign him and put them in the same room for TC... and have a "Jamaica night" or something...
Suspended players still count against the cap. Actually, if a player is suspended without pay, only a player's base salary is wiped off the books during a suspension. But larger sums such as signing and roster bonuses are not removed from the salary cap calculation. Not sure exactly what the math would be for Holmes, but a good portion of his pay (at least half) would still count against the cap.
Are you sure? Even if suspended for the season? I seem to remember when PAce was suspended 4 games without pay his cap number also went down.
Watch, Holmes will make nice with Sanchez and be having a great year. Then, around week 12 with the Jets in great shape to make the playoffs, he'll piss hot.
