Sounds like he wants to be released by this. "ESPN's Adam Schefter reported on SportsCenter Wednesday that Peyton Manning "will not push back" his $28 million roster bonus and will either stay with the Colts or be released by the Colts. Per Schefter, the sides are dug in. Owner Jim Irsay isn't going to trade Manning, and Manning won't restructure his contract to allow the Colts to get something in return. The $28 million bonus is due on March 8. Irsay is staunch in his commitment to pay Manning if he's healthy, but he's going to have to receive medical clearance from neck surgery in order to see the money." http://nbcsports.msnbc.com/id/46040956/ns/sports-player_news/
Also sounds like his center is going to retire. Who would wanna play on a team with no oline, ground game, offensive weapons, defense, or head coach.
Peyton doesnt even know the front office anymore. He hasnt talked to the new GM, he doesnt know who the coach will be, it must be awkward for him right now. Hes sitting out on an island all by himself right now.
Well it usually takes a young QB 3-5 years to bust out, so they can build up a ton of top 5 draft picks over that time span. Look what the Lions did with all those top draft picks, now just imagined if they had a real QB instead of that glass princess
Damn: I can't post links yet because I don't have 50 posts but there was an article in the local paper (Toronto Sun) that has quotes from Eli about the possibility of Peyton playing for the Jets. It was mostly funny stuff about them commuting and getting twin beds and stuff but I'm sure if he does get released over this it would be a possibility.
Here's the story: http://espn.go.com/blog/new-york/giants/post/_/id/10991/eli-entertains-idea-of-peyton-as-a-neighbor Something tells me that all the speculation is a waste of time and that (Peyton) Manning is going to retire anyway. Not sure that he's going to be able to come back completely, or that he'll want to. This isn't a bum knee or a shoulder or something like that. He's "old" by football standards but he's still a young man and probably doesn't want to live the rest of his life in pain. I dunno, just a hunch.
There's twitter scuttlebut regarding Rob Lowe (yeah the actor) saying that Manning will retire in a matter of days. Supposedly, Lowe is a massive Colts fan and a friend of Manning and Irsay.
Retiring is probably his best option. If his neck really is that bad, there's no use risking paralysis over a game. He's made a lot of money in his career and will find a job in football if he does decide to hang them up.
Manning got paid a lot of money last year to do nothing at all. I'd be really surprised if he's planning to hold up the Colts for another $28 million before he retires. That'd leave a bad taste in a lot of Colts fans mouths after all the "Peyton makes too much for the Colts to build a championship team" stories over the years. I'm guessing that Peyton Manning is getting the best advice that he can from the doctors on whether or not he can play well this season. If what he hears is no then he'll retire before the bonus is due. If he hears yes then he'll wait for the bonus date and see what the Colts choose to do. That's the logical endgame for a great player who has made as much off of his name as on the field.
Stafford is injury prone to be sure, but "princess" is not the right way to describe him. His toughness is unquestionable. (skip to 3:30 to see Stafford be a badass)
Did you not see Isray's bizarre rebutal on twitter? I will try to dig it out. edit: actually its so odd I wont post it but check it out on pft lol
I will... “My sources tell me Rob will star in an epic remake of ‘Deep Throat’ with aging porn stars and 4 finger circus clowns!”
