Great post. Will be interesting if this helps Vlad. The guy looked okay coming in as an extra "te" in a couple plays.

Hodor might be a better fit in Sparano's power blocking scheme as opposed to Callahan's zone blocking scheme

  4. You're asking if a guy taken in the 2nd round 2 years ago who was known to be a project at the time he was drafted...if he's a bust?

I think maybe a better question is...are you even a jets fan? Or just stupid?

I expect Vlad to be a big part of the Jets O-line next year as a legitamte 6th lineman and quite possibly a starter.
Most on this board seriously discount how much of a setback not having a true offseason after his rookie year because of the lockout was.

He is far from a bust ala Gholston who showed absolutely nothing in his time here.

And Vlad is any different? I admire your (foolish) optimism.

Busts everywhere are now saying, "Please don't lump us in with the likes of Vlad Ducasse."

Sorry dude but you are the fool, Vlad has actually contributed on the field albeit in a limited role. He has looked awful at times but has also looked better than serviceable at other times.

Gholston never contributed anything as a top 5 pick, that is the definition of a bust.

A second round pick who was defined as a "project" and has NEVER even had an offseason to work cannot be touted as a bust - 2nd round picks often end up as role players, back ups or out of the NFL in a couple of years. Top 5 picks that contribute nothing is the definition of a bust.

You don't pick "projects" in the second round. You pick them in the 5th-7th rounds. Ducasse is a bust.

Vlad was picked as a project and this was clearly stated at the time!

I really hope he benefits from the switching of blocking schemes. He is as dumb as they come, but he is a big, strong dude.

No you don't. Moron. Not if you want to win championships. If you want to fart around with "projects" in the second round, you won't win squat.

The two players selected immediately after Vernon Gholston and Vladimir Ducasse were Sedrick Ellis and Brandon Spikes, respectively. Neither were "projects". Both had contributed to the success of good teams. The Jets have no idea what to do with a draft pick. And neither do you, jackass.

Neither the Saints or the Patriots felt the need to take on a project in the second round of the draft. Those are successful franchises. Meanwhile, idiots like you look forward to seeing what the Jets do with their second round "project".

If King Ugly can fill in that RT spot and we can drop Hunter to free up some cap space... man that would be blessing.

its a shame to think that a second round pick going into his third year needs to be a viable backup or he is a bust.

if thats the case he is already a bust.

there really is no reason to not see what he will do this year. then send him to the scrap heap.

Vlad won't be cut next year or the year after. He was absolutely a project pick and he has a very cap friendly contract through 2013.

Jets fans SHOULD want this project to succeed because his potential is through the roof. Unfortunately we have a bunch of masochistic fans who want to call draft picks 'bust' asap.
