FWIW I frankly don't care about your stopwatch, Greene is fast enough as evidenced by his huge runs in the postseason in 2009 and 2010.
It actually wasn't my personal stopwatch, but I get your point. Greene is probably one of the slowest starting backs in the league even though he has broken a couple of long runs. He's never had a run of more than 33 yards in the regular season. That should speak to his speed quite a bit. I also understand that as far as you're concerned anyone on the Jets is the greatest and anyone who isn't sucks.
it's not a good sign when you have to " simplify" ( dumb down) the playbook for a quarterback in his 3rd year. doesn't fit with the idea of a franchise qb, does it?
Not accurate, unfortunately. Schotty was never the OC for San Diego, that was Cam Cameron and Schotty runs a different offense than the one Rivers and Brees ran. And Sanchez, if this is even the case, is not the first QB to find Schotty's offense too complex. Some guy named Favre did too, as did everyone's favorite Rhodes Scholar QB. Complex offense scheme does not automatically equal good offense scheme. Complexity for complexity sake, when those schemes don't take advantage of the talent you have on the field or the opponent you are playing is just poor coaching. Simple also doesn't mean they are going to run a wing T. Some of the best offenses (the west coast, for example) are simple in theory. So none of this means that if Sanchez couldn't master the playbook, he is a dumb player.
It isn't necessarily a bad sign either. A lot of coaches fall in love with their own ability to design plays and formations ( just think about all the useless pre-snap motion the Jets engage in that fools no one). Throwing a lot of that stuff out of the playbook, and concentrating on our players strengths might work a lot better than what went on the last three years.
EXACTLY! LOL... Greene is def a good back and his numbers back him up. Some Jets fans are always looking to critique/pick on the negatives. Yes Greene needs to learn how to catch better, but rem he is a rb 1st. He is def above average and with a sound oline we will see him being a top 10 rb easily.
Sprano is a BAD ASS! The first time Santonio slaps his silly sun glasses off on the sidelines during a game it's gonna BE ON!!! CAN'T WAIT!!!!
I actually thought Greene had a good year given the OL problems, the straying from run game, and the rib injury. I think Greene + McKnight will be a good combo if we fix the right side of the line.
Amen bro....an intermediate passing game and less 22 personnel and more 11 would bring the offense out of the 1950's
I seem to recall Brees being benches while Schotty was the QB coach there Schotty is clearly a great guy....he's just not a great OC. He should stay home and tool that smoking hot blonde and rap the kids on the head..
We ran just fine to the right. The problem on the ground was to the left. The problem in pass protection was the edges, although we had a few bad games all over the place before Mangold got back into top shape. D'Brick had his worst year in pass protection in awhile. I think he was covering for Slauson. That remains to be seen, but if it was true then Slauson was probably our worst offensive lineman last season. The gap he shared with D'Brick averaged 2.89 yards a carry. Every other gap was at least 3.74 (Hunter and Keller.)
Nevertheless we strayed away from the run which magnified our pass protection problems. Run MORE. lol
The Jets couldn't run more. They didn't have the backs to make it work. Greene got banged up and McKnight was really risky inside for ball protection reasons. Powell didn't show enough to be activated more than a few times. The Jets couldn't run to the left and they had pass protection problems from almost all angles. It was a complete wipeout for them in terms of consistent options. Then throw in an offensive coordinator who had trouble staying on target in the years when he did have good options and things devolved into a nightmare for all involved.
