I know there are a number of threads already and please feel free to merge if you like but thought this needed pointing out in it's own thread...because it's what matters and hopefully quiets those "haters" who haven't given the man a chance yet. Actually, I like this move, if in fact confirmed. You all are talking X's and O's too much right now. Ground & pound...air it out...gadget plays...who really cares at this early juncture. What the Jets offense lacked this year and the last couple was ACCOUNTABILITY! People running around like chickens with their heads cut off. Mouthy wide receivers. 11 men looking like they weren't on the same page often. Goofball play calling. in 2011 we had FIFTY TWO penalties (defense had 24). I can go on. Sparano is respected by his men and his men are on the same page and are some of the least penalized. Just what I would expect from a Parcells guy. I can't remember how many drive killing penalties we had over the last couple years. In fact you can chalk two losses a year up to drive killing penalties. As well, if you go back to Sanchez's college days and watch the tape you'll find that he most certainly fits what Sparano does. Ground & pound with a vertical game mixed in. Absolutely perfect for a play action QB...which I place Sanchez in the top 5 of the NFL already. That was USC's offense...which is why the kid is so good at it already. I like the signing...Tony will break a Parcellian foot off in their undisciplined A$$'s....and they NEED it. Best part...I still think it doesn't change our off season needs. O-line is priority so we should already have a jump on it.
The best thing about the move is that Sparano is going to be screaming at people when they come off the field after making an unforced error and that includes Sanchez. The thing the Jets have lacked under Rex is discipline and accountability. Those days are over on the offensive side of the ball.
How is this move going to help Sanchez's development if he doesnt get to pass the ball 60 + times a game !?
I am guessing you were being sarcastic...lol One of two final points...the Dolphins were ranked two spots higher in offense this year with considerably less talent than the Jets...across the board but especially at TE, RB & QB. And on the penalty front...the Dolphins were 4th with only 84 penalties to the Jets lowly 18th ranking at 102 penalties. Bring on the discipline baby!
Sanchez and Greene are considerably better than Moore and Bush? Lol. Bush has more rushing yards, receiving yards, a far better average, and more touchdowns. He was easily the 2nd best RB in the division next to Jackson. If Moore played a full season I think he'd look very similar to Sanchez. In 3 less games he has 800 fewer yards, 10 fewer touchdowns, and half as many interceptions, 4% higher completion rate, and a better QB rating (for those who care about that). Jets don't have anyone remotely close to what Marshall can do, I don't know what to think of the rest of their receiving corps outside of MArshall/Holmes, nothing impresses. Give Jets the edge at TE. Neither OL played particularly stellar this season. Defenses played similar, Fish had an advantage against the run, Jets had the edge against the pass. I don't see where the Jets are considerably better at anything, I really don't. I'd probably call them pretty damn equal.
He didnt say that we were better, he said we had more talent. Look what Bush did over how many years, same with Moore. They both were hot garbage, yet for some reason were both incredibly productive in Miami last year. Was it because of their system ? Who knows, but were bound to find out soon
I like the hire too Mezz. IMO, the entire coaching staff should have been let go after the total and complete breakdown of discipline this past season. Stupid penalties, mouthy, selfish players, missed tackle after missed tackle, constant communication breakdowns... I could go on and on. I don't believe every story that comes out about the team being totally disorganized, but where there is smoke there is fire, and I saw enough this season that I knew without any media coverage that this team is in total disarray. don't think Sparano can fix that himself. It starts with Rex. I love the guy, but I think his window in NY came crashing down hard this season, and it's my belief that we will not see the same amount of success we saw the first 2 seasons. But there is no way they ditch Rex this season, so we'll just have to hope they get these fundamental issues resolved. I don't believe they will, but we'll see.
....which was all I was saying. Thanks for the support. Exactly! Outside of Marshall, who is clearly better than any Jets receiver, we have more talent across the board. Sooo...having said that and to second what DCM just said...was it the system...we're about to find out. Because if it is, then with the talent we have we can look to a few more wins. Time will tell. At the end of the day we should give this man our support until he proves he doesn't deserve it.
