Discuss. And if you weren't on the board for Hackett, just go off your general sentiment at the time. :breakdance:
Hackett wasn't around as long. He was canned after a playoff season as well. Schott survived a coaching change and worked with 3 different QBs with minimal results. Hackett was way more conservative but didn't abandon the run game. I actually liked what Schott did in 09 and 10 but he tried to turn our offense into a spread offense this year and it cost us.
This is a very unfair poll to be honest. Schotty is obviously going to lead the pole with it being so fresh and unpleasantly settled in peoples minds.
I know. But Jet fans REALLY hated Hackett, probably more so than with Schotty now, so I thought it would create an interesting discussion on who was worse.
I seem to remember Hackett making me slightly happier. At least with schotty we had some good playoff runs.
OMG, Hackett was a disaster. Not saying Schotty is Bill fucking Walsh but Hackett was so damn bad. Hackett probably messed up my mind because he's the big reason I was still patient w/ Schotty. Everyone on the board who says it can't possibly be any worst when looking to replace OC hasn't experienced the Hackett era.
Hackett never led an O that made a title game, Brian led TWO. Hackett had a smart, vet QB for most of his time, Brian was developing a raw, young QB for most of his time.
Look Schotty was a good Coordinator but a TERRIBLE Playcaller. Plus he never could get his guys fired up. I really blame Tannenbaum for this years mess losing our O line and receivers on a year with no preseason time to get acquainted. But Schotty's playcalling never helped.
Schotty's had six years here and a lot of the displeasure is based upon people wanting a change and some fresh ideas, which many believe are warranted after so much time. Hackett quickly became public enemy #1, had a bad personality and was forced out after only 4 years. I was not on the board at the time, but to my recollection, he was more intensely hated Schotty's had periods where two AFCCGs quieted a lot of detractors. Personally, I have been much more vocal about the need to get rid of Schotty and I was always more supportive of Hackett.
