in today's post, it was reported that the jets are looking at sparano and the guy who was j-ville's oc as possible shotty replacements. in other words, they look at two losers to replace /solve a problem area. if the guy you look at hasn't done any better than the guy you have, why bring him in? having your company run by a bean-counter leads to bailouts or bankruptcy ( see GM and Chrysler as recent examples).
Why would you disagree that McElroy would have to answer for his comments? You don't think ANYONE is going to confront him about this?

no, it isn't. cause accountants aren't qualified to manage anything except that department. we need a football guy running the team, not a bean-counter. as far as i know, we have the only team in the league run by a bean-counter.

I don't quite understand why people are saying Sparano would be a terrible hire. I doubt anyone we bring in could be any worse than Schotty has been. Not to mention I think bringing in a guy like Sparano could be a blessing in disguise for our offense and the egotistical players on it. He has a track record for curbing ego's and creating a unity in the locker room. Something which seems to be needed by our squad

It amazes me how quickly people have forgotten how the "bean counter" managed to steal guys like Sanchez, Holmes, Cromartie and Edwards for next to nothing, and put together two of 4 best teams in Jets history in '09-'10. Yeah he had a shitty offseason, but that's no reason to completely throw the guy under the bus. And it's not like he's making unilateral decisions on personnel; it's clear that he and Rex work pretty closely on that.
Because what he said was 100% true and Holmes ass was already on the back pages of the Post and the News. Anybody who opens their mouth to McElroy should have opened it up after Week 15 or during Weeks 4-5 to Holmes.

How do you know they didn't open their mouths to Holmes and he just didn't listen? If McElroy has a problem with the team why not just come out and say it in the locker room and keep it in house instead of waiting to get to some local radio station in Alabama to talk his team down to the public? This goes to all players to used the media to lash out, not just McElroy. In my opinion, Rex should set some house rules when it comes to lashing out through the media or giving away any negative details about locker room issues. This should come with a fine/missed playing time, and also apply this to players who break curfew(if they have one). I don't mind the bravado, but I'd rather see rex as a no nonsense hard nosed head coach, and not a cool uncle that lets you get away with shit.
I covered these companies for 20 years inside-and-out as an analyst and portfolio manager, it wasn't the corporate CEOs who bled them dry. When the govt gave a bailout it wasn't for the shareholders or the CEOs, it was the UAW's promises to their members which got bailed out. It seems to me like they want to bring in an oc that will be totally committed to the run game. I'll say this, sanchez look his best when he's throwing for less than 30 times a game. Sanchez has made it clear that he's not ready to carry the offense yet so I can at least see the logic in looking at these guys.
I don't, but it seems like Holmes was a problem all year long, as per Cannizzaro, Cimini, and Glauber. Because he's the 3rd-string QB and he wasn't going to lie or shut his mouth. He didn't goto the NY Post or WFAN...he talked on some tiny Alabama radio station that probably broadcasts all of 10 miles. Aside from Brandon Moore and LT, he is only the 3rd guy to go on the record with his name. This wasn't a 'locker room issue' -- this was a f****** cancer that destroyed the team. A guy bitching about his playing time, touches, or catches but still giving 100% -- that stays inside. A selfish prick who calls out his QB, OL, coaches -- then quits down the stretch and f****** benches himself with the season on the line ? Bleep that, the SOB deserved no protection at all. God help us if this SOB is on the team in 2 years when he is earning about 1/4th his current pay. Imagine what he would be like then...... Fine the guys who tell the truth and let the cancer off scott-free ? I don't think so.
I don't think you understand. This would apply to Holmes as well. It's not about handing out penalties to what's already happened. I'm talking about moving forward starting next season. He's the main reason why i'm bringing up in-house rules. It's not about fining players for telling the truth. It's about throwing shit out where it doesn't need to be, and that's the public. Losing always brings out the bad and fan bases will overreact, but i'm willing to give it another year to see if he, and this team can get their shit together.
