Totally. Only Joe Montana is qualified to tell us whether Sanchez is any good. As long as he doesn't say it to a Boston radio station. And as long as we can't invent some reason why Joe Montana clearly hates the Jets.

If Sanchez even came close to Boomer's caliber as a quarterback when Boomer was with the Bengals, it'll be a complete stunner.

i love how every former player is never qualified enough to criticize sanchez.

yet everyone here is qualified enough to claim how awesome he is.

im not ready to pull the plug yet but i wouldnt shit my pants if they went in another direction after next year if similar results happen.

I think the AFCCG appearances have people giving him more time than his consistently inconsistent play warrants.

Great! I still don't like him. Its easy to take a cheap shot at Sanchez after this season. Where was he last year.

Its about credibility. Boomer's can be attacked.

Nothing wrong with that. Doesn't mean he isn't qualified to critique the Jets or Sanchez.

Not by referencing his playing career with the Jets. That's just stupid.

If you have rational reasons why Boomer doesn't have credibility, that's fine. You can provide them, if you have them, or not. I can't say I care all that much. I don't think Boomer said anything terribly insightful, but it also wasn't particularly unreasonable.

Sanchez...This season will tell the tale. Sanchez, for all his faults...always leads Jets to a score in the clutch ???

Agree, Sanchez doesn't strike me as someone that could hurt a fly. He is clearly a lover not a fighter.

Sanchez was equally poor last year, it was just fair to give him his 3rd season everyone was promising us.

All I have to say is this :

    Boomer should know better.

I mean even if he didn't mean for it to sound the way it sounded, it STILL sounded like a Racist comment to many out there.

And despite his further clarification on what he meant when he said it, it doesn't matter. He went and said it even though he should've realized how bad it sounded. A perfect case of opening his mouth before his brain could stop him.

Imus was fired for something similar(though a bit more crude). I'm curious as to what will happen next?

Will they have Boomer issue a Public Apology for that comment or just sweep it under the rug?

Boomer joining the pile-on. What a douche.

Yeah, Sanchez looked shellshocked back there, at the end of the year, it's true. That can happen to any QB who routinely gets hammered by 300 lb. defensive linemen during the course of a season. It's not like Sanchez appeared "soft" or "scared" during his first two seasons, when the O-line protected him adequately. He seemed capable of handling the sort of punishment that typically comes with playing the position. Labeling him a 'fraidy cat, after a season where he was given ample reason to be jumpy by a porous offensive line, is nonsense.

And what the Hell does this mean?

What is it they do? Explore possible upgrades in the off-season? Is that a bad thing?

Have you seen the list of most sacked qb's? Can't use the o line as total blame. He never steps into the pocket to avoid a sack.

I was just teasing you and also I hope making the point that if we just chill and see what happens here as a general rule, there wouldn't be a tenth as many posts as there are. Part of the fun of being here is not chilling and waiting. In full disclosure I myself often hold back from some discussions since they seem to be to be entirely contingent on something that has not yet happened that we have no good way of assessing what will happen.

But talking about Sanchez and his future does not seem to be one of those things, at least right now. There's plenty to say about him, imo, even if I agree in part with the sentiment that he is almost certain to be back next year.

I should not be surprised how often you miss the point on the football threads, too.

Tell me what level of prior success for a former player is necessary before they can criticize your hero Sanchez?

Call me crazy if I think the answer is you think no one should.

It's like he is getting paid per missed block. He wasn't even close to that bad when he was a backup.

On another note, I have been wondering how much longer it will be before the NFL will offer fan access to the All 22. I would kill to get my hands on that kind of footage.
