I know I will get attacked for this, but considering recent developments, as a business and competitive decision we HAVE to make a run at Peyton. This team does not believe in Sanchez, I truly believe in his heart of hearts Rex does not believe in Sanchez. The defense has been pissed at the poor offensive production all season long while we play as 1/2 of a team. The only thing that will fill this vaccum and salvage the current state of the franchise is to bring in Peyton, someone that the entire team can have faith in as a leader and player, someone that everyone respects, someone who has the credibility to get in the faces of other players on the team, especially guys like Holmes. I see this team falling apart if we just stand with the status quo, with Sanchez at QB, possibly trading holmes and not getting enough weapons for Sanchez to play better even if we get a new competent OC.
yeah I hated losing Clemens. I know a lot of you didn't like him but after watching him in the pre-season he looked really sharp.
A great QB like Brady, Manning, Rogers can cover up a lot of other weaknesses. Pats have the worst Defense in the NFL but Brady still got the top seed in the AFC. Colts are a team that wins 12 games with Manning, 2 games without Manning. GB has had tons of O-Line injury issues all year, but Rogers still got the top seed in the NFC. So, if you have a 'sucky team', you better have a Brady, Manning, or Rogers. But I'd rather have an excellent all around team with a dominating defense, great o-line and great running game (see NY Jets circa 2009) with a scrappy, avg QB like Sanchez. There's more than one way to get it done. I prefer Rex Ryan's way.
Now that Irsay fired Polian I think this may be right. Apparently Irsay views this as a "family decision" rather than a "football decision", which to me says he cares about what's best for Peyton Manning over the Indianapolis Colts.
Polian probably wanted to trade manning and got fired for it. Now we know pey pey broke his neck Giving irsay a hummer
Manning, IF he is healthy, will be starting his 15th year. Even if he is 100% healthy, which he will never be again, he has maybe 2 or 3 years left. Irsay would be the most incompetent owner that ever lived if he didn't take Luck, the best QB prospect since Manning himself, with the #1 pick. He will take him.
Fuck Peyton manning. Fuck tom Brady Fuck Ben the raper We have a decent qb with a shitty oc, line and receiving corps. Build some actual players around the man instead of quitters and he will do just fine. We should be running the football primarily anyway. If our fo is smart we should continue to build our defense and running game (and actually use the running game) get rid of holmes and Burress and find the cotchery and chrebets of the world (workers/producers > quitters/talkers)
Maybe the Jets should go after Polian. He built winners in Buffalo and Indianapolis. He even did some good things with the expansion Carolina Panthers. Of course, he is getting older, so the concern would have to be whether the game is passing him by.
how exactly has he been overhyped? he was vastly underrated coming into this year. he struggled this year for many reasons, I am thankful you are nowhere near the Jets FO. We won b/c we had a really good team, we aren't a one man show like NE where you or I could play WR and they'll have success w/ a top 5 all time QB. A year ago our D and run game were very inconsistent, we probably don't make the playoffs w/ Mark's multiple comebacks. Sanchez was a big reason we beat up NE in the div rd. It was D first confusing Brady but Sanchez played excellent football and badly outplayed the best QB in the game. what evidence did GB have after 2008? let's put Rodgers and Ben aside b/c they are elite QBs. what did Eli show pre postseason 2007? What did Brees show through 4-5 years? It's asinine to even entertain the thought of getting a new QB.
Chris Mortensen just said on sportcenter that he expects Peyton to leave Indy by March 8th.(payment deadline)
He was selected 5th overall. You don't take garbage QBs with the #5 pick. Of course if you would like to bring your glorious GM into the discussion that would be ok too.
