Except that Sanchez played well in the playoffs. So all a different QB would have done is up our regular season record. Would it have been enough to get home-field? I doubt it, considering the Pats went 14-2 last year. Maybe the year before, but they were blowing leads left and right in the fourth quarter anyway.

Lol at bringing in Peyton Manning that guy is coming off neck surgery that is just too risky. I would rather fill our other needs, like bringing in a new rt, an actual number 2 reciever (braylon?) Some speed at olb and better safetys.

Stop stretching man. It's funny how Sanchez supporters actually have basis and validity behind there arguments and Sanchez haters find every irrational reason to spite him. Not targeting just you but I'm talking all Sanchez doubters.

That Steelers game was weird, he had that bs fumble (which was a terrible playcall anyway) and the debacle on 1st and goal. It wasn't his fault but he was awful in that 1st half as well.

Hopefully Schotty will be out and we'll a better OC in here and we'll get a better idea of what we have with Mark next season.

It isn't Sanchez. Are you guys forgetting Schotty coached Drew Brees? When Schotty wasn't coaching Brees then Brees started to really mature as a QB and his career took off.

Its the OC, not the QB.

So Sanchez is basically as good as Brees, it's just Schotty holding him back? Greatest argument ever.

Peyton has always had premiere talent around him, that is an asinine statement. he has had MUCH better teams around him than the '09-'11 Jets and the only SB he won he ythrew 3 TDs and 7 INTs in postseason beating Brady w/ reche Caldwell and Jabar Gaffney as his top weapons in the title game then Rex Grossman in the SB.

Putting aside the QB nonsense, you do realize our D isn't very good, right? if our D was even a top half D we easily make the playoffs.

So you'd take a guy who was beaten out by Tim Tebow? a guy who has never won a big game in his life over Sanchez?

does each posts just keep getting worse and worse on this board?

despite him making big plays in every win and not making many mistakes we got to the title game? do you realize how hard it is to win playoff games? do yuou realize how hard it is to win playoff games on the road? You don't win 4 road playoff games in 2 years w/ poor QB play, you can't mask the QB to win that many playoff games especially w/ our defense which is vastly overrated.

people forget we have the Pats in our divisio who are a great regular season team now. We are built for January, NE is built for Sept-Dec which is a reason we beat them up in Foxboro in the div rd last year. If we win a couple more games the last 2 years our seed doesn't change in '09 and maybe we are the 5 seed instead of 6 and play Pitt in the div rd instead of title game.

Don't you mean an actual #1 receiver?

Why keep making the same mistake? These second rate guys will not cut it. We need prime talent at receiver, not another #2 receiver. All these top offenses and top QBs have top receivers. Matt Flynn came in and threw for 6 TDs and 480 yards with a corps I called the best in the league just a while ago. People were saying it was the Quarterback who made the receiver(ergo, the Green Bay corps is only good because of Aaron Rodgers), I say you need both. We have an overpaid cancer posing as our #1 receiver. It's time to get our QB some help, be it Sanchez or whomever is back there, we need a top receiver for our QB.

We need to start looking at what we can get in the draft and in Free Agency. First thing we need to do is get rid of Schotty, that is a no-brainer. We can't get rid of Holmes because of the cap hit, but I think we should consider bringing in Terrell Owens as our #1, bump Santonio down to slot, and draft a WR in the first round to be our #2(and future #1). We can either retain Plax as a specialist, or don't re-sign him and start using Turner more. Either way, we can't go into next season with these same receivers.

I have to agree...I have seen this team suck along with everyone else.....But I don't think that all the blame goes to a Qb that is trying to make things happen.
    11 come back wins
    4 playoff wins..
Get rid of Shotty send him to the fins so he can screw that team up
and a new Qb coach would be nice.

Matt Flynn was playing w/ no pressure to win a game. remember all the Josh Freeman love after last year? he had pressure to win for the first time this year- how did that work out?

I think there are a lot of merits in that argument regarding Flynn, and I think Sanchez has actually handled that part of being a ny qb quite well.

But with regards to the ben, Rogers, brees argument it gets tricky, surely you would know that for every 3 guys that didn't deserved to be given up on there are about 30 where the fo just know but doesn't take action.

I for one know that we will have Sanchez as qb next season and I am not too worried about it. I do not think we are a SB contender next year either so why not build up debt and talent and see where Sanchez takes us. A RT and Safety in FA and drafting a wr and olb will make the world of difference.

Sanchez will return do to the money tied up in him. Bring in a new OC, and see if he starts to lose his bad habits. Give him some help on the OL, and dump Holmes anyway you can. Eli Manning did not really come into his own until Gilbride arrived. If after all this, Sanchez still sucks then we must move on.

SOS, we need a real backup QB too.

I have been very consistent in my views regarding Sanchez. I do not think he has the ability to be an elite QB in the NFL. However, I think it is only fair to see what the man does with a new OC. Maybe Schotty is the problem here, maybe not. It would be nice to see him have a breakout year under a new OC though.

Additionally however, Is Sanchez worth all the money he is supposed to get next year? I personally do not think so. To those of you talking about his stellar post season play, the man did not play well in those games. Unless you think 200 yards passing is acceptable.

If Manning hadn't been injured this year and the Colts won 11 or 12 games, then you'd be saying the same thing -- that the Colts have "premier talent." This season clearly proved that that's not the case.

It's real simple really! When it comes to elite QB's, franchise QB's great QB's, etc.....if you have to talk about it, it isn't there.

Just like McNaab in Philly, people wanted to make him great or elite but every year there was a nauseating pile of excuses and what-if's. He simply wasn't that good, if he was, you wouldn't have to make excuses and search for what-if's!

And McNabb's failure to win the big one had nothing to do with years and years of playing without a running game or any receiving weapons (except one year with the all-time locker room cancer in Owens).

Sanchez isn't elite, probably won't ever be elite, but it's still very much up in the air whether or not he can become a good, NFL quarterback. Teams do win without record setting, Hall of Fame QBs.

People forget that as a Jet fan, I am sick of taking backseat to the patriots year after year after year in the division. I want to see that Jets team that has a dominant and consistent regular season. Not these stretch of games where they are on a roll then a stretch of games where they look like absolute garbage as a unit. While I think changes to need to be made on the defensive side like you are stating, there is no way one can argue that we are consistent at all at the QB position during the regular season. If we are ever going to win the divison, the Jets need to be a consistent regular season team, at all positions, but most importantly the QB!

If you really think about it, Rex Ryan has won nothing for the Jets in his 3 years, technically. The last "title" of any kind we have won was the AFC East back in 2002 under Herm. Is it too much to ask, as a fan of a team that has a coach that guarantees a super bowl every year, to at least get a t-shirt or a hat that says champions of something on it? Despite this false sense of dominance the last 2 seasons, due to inconsistent regular seasons, the Jets have nothing to show for it. The orders I placed for my "AFC Champions" gear the last 2 years is probably being proudly worn by homeless people in 3rd world countries.
