There's no need for an "off-season" thread. We will have numerous threads for offseason news. Sorry, but I'm going to re-name this one.

Scott is a solid starter. We already have enough holes, so I don't care to lose him. Also, we have no ILB depth, so unless we go signing LBs left and right....I'm not for this...

That being said, he is very overrated....and we would save cap room....so....whatever...

There are no cap savings to cutting Scott. They renegotiated his contract in the offseason to fully guarantee his 2012 salary.

I'd be pretty surprised to see him go, unless he wants to call it quits.

I thought Scott played well this year. Not great but he blew up a lot of plays. Our rush D would suffer w/o him.

  9. You guys want to get better? Unfortunately you have to make a move like this. The middle spot next to Harris desperately needs to be improved. Scott would be perfect as a 5th Linebacker Pepper Johnson type.Unfortunately he's too expensive for that role.

I really like pending free agent Curtis Lofton. I think he brings leadership along w/ physical ,consistent play.

From his interview on SNY this afternoon, I got the vibe that he wasn't expecting to be back.

    Scott's cap information.

He has a fully guaranteed $4.2M salary, in addition to his bonus. Cutting him would actually cost $1.25M against the cap more than keeping him. It just makes no sense to cut him.

Bart is tough, but he takes plays off, i just dont think he is viscious enough every down. That low hit he made on Best was bs! He should have took him out by putting his pads in his chest LIKE RAY LEWIS! At time he makes guards look like punters trying to block him, other times he looks like he is on roller skates. I would like him back but for less money.

I'm in agreement, I like Bart a lot but we need a faster ILB that plays every down

I would be shocked if he wasn't back next year.

It literally makes no sense to cut him. I would be stunned if he is not back. He is a Rex type of player and still can play...

Cut Pace and Thomas, and get 2 OLB's with speed and you can still start Scott and Harris...

I would bring all the linebackers back but we need to start grooming replacements. If we go linebacker in round 1 or 2 of the draft or sign someone in free agency then maybe we can let one of them go but let's not just cut these guys without having any solid replacements.

He just looked plain old this year. Didn't seal the edges, missed a lot of tackles. The linebacking corps needs A LOT of work. Thomas gone, Bart who knows, Pace looked pretty slow all year as well. Lucky to have Harris.

This really does not surprise me. He seems like he doesn't want to be part of this team anymore, and the Jets really won't miss all those missed tackles. I wish Bart the best, but he is overpaid, and won't be getting big time money anymore since he is not a 3 down LB.
