3 passing plays all season went 40+ yds. Screen pass to LT vs OAK. Keller vs the Eagles. Kerley's pass today. So that's really only one legit pass through the air that went 40 and was completed. The fact that a WR didn't catch a pass for 20 and then run for 20 is also laughable. That's how bad the offense was. Sanchez ranks dead last among all QB's with 200 or more throws in 40+ yd plays. Bad QB's like Tebow, Painter, and Skelton have thrown over 200 times less then Sanchez yet had 5 or 6 or more 40+ yd plays. SAD. We had one run over 30+ yds from the running game all season. I'm pretty sure our offense yielded more big plays off turnovers, then the offense yielded themselves. Think of all the pick sixes and fumbles that were returned for TD's. Long returns too. I think the offense gave up more 40+ plays to defenses then they actually did themselves. It's probably something like 8 for the defense, compared to 3 for our offense, lol. If not for the red zone success, the offense might be all time Jet bad.
In order to complete a pass over 40 you need 2 things: time in the pocket a receiver to get some separation Not giving Sanchez a pass here but he usually has neither.
You forgot being accurate enough to hit a receiver in stride without making him go to the ground to catch the ball.
there have also been numerous times when sanchez has flat out missed a deep open receiver, like McKnight last week vs NYG.
Good post. Still, those stats are hard to read without vomiting a little. Good for Greene breaking 1000 yards rushing despite all the crap.
There have been opportunities to hit big plays but Sanchez has flat out missed. Last week against the giants McKnight BURNED Boley at the line of scrimmage and Sanchez missed him by like 6 yards and it might have been a TD. Even in today's game I saw some awful missed throws. This is going to be an interesting offseason to say the least.
