the whole team isn't playing well. Sanchez is already showing signs of being shellshocked. His timing is off, he's not making his reads, Schotty's timing routes are killing him. But that's indicative of his oline play as well. The guy needs a new OC and system to play in.
The prescription for next year should be to fix the offensive line and identify three backs the Jets would be willing to hand the ball to 250 times if it came to that. The Ground and Pound is perfectly suited to mangle 3-4 defenses at this point. There are enough teams running a 3-4 that the talent is diluted on that side of the field and what you want to do against those teams is run the ball and grind down their 3 pegs. The outside rush linebackers get partly neutralized also when they have to account for the probability of the ball coming their way on the ground. No more cheating on the snap count when all the tackle has to do is shove you one step to the outside and you blew your assignment.
I agree Sanchez does suck right now. Prior to the Giants bringing in Gilbride, Manning sucked too. Callahan took a jouneyman QB in Gannon, and took the Raiders to the Super Bowl. Economically speaking, it makes more sense to drop the OC, than give up on a 1st round pick so soon. Schotty"s play-calling in the last game was terrible.
If Woody had balls, he would have cleaned house instead of just firing the head coach and rearranging the front office jobs. The Jets are on a continued path of mediocrity with the exception of what Rex has brought to the team. Woody has no balls.
Does Woody even understand football that well? I always though this guy was clueless, as in he probably cant name the positions on the field.
This is too much. Yes our OC may not be perfect, but do you not see any problem with an OC having to tell a QB whom to throw to? I thought average QBs threw to the open guy and not some specific guy, unless you are resigned to the fact that Sanchize is that terrible. The whole situation is cluster fuck and Rex I think knows what the problem is. If he does not fix it next year, we can shit both Rex and Sanchize out! and then maybe, just maybe, we may know that it was not all the OC's fault.
Its never really a good idea to fire a coach mid-season and since we still have a shot at the playoffs I didn't expect him to be fired. If people can read between the lines though you can tell Shottys gone from some of the press conferences.
last night, i watched #16 for iowa play qb. they lost the game, but he stood in there despite pressure and threw down the field accurately and with zip. vanderberg was his name. might be worth a lower round pick or a look-see as udfa if he's eligible this year.
It amazes me to see how delusional some people can be. Do you watch the games? Why don't you go watch the game again and look at the 4th down calls. They have nothing to do with anyone except Shottenheimer. Nobody who makes those 4th down calls deserves to be a football coach, NFL, college, or pee-wee. We can all argue about whether or not Sanchez is worthless, but at the end of the day it doesn't matter a long as Shottenheimer is coming up with the formations and calling the plays.
Agree and think about the players that Mangini brought on board the fact that Tannenbaum has done nothing since except throw Mangini under the bus for Goldston.
Fans having been saying maybe next year since 1969 at what point does it become this year????Its a joke it really is the Jets will always suck in big moments, even 40 years from now will be saying maybe next year ...we blew to chances to go to the Superbowl sometimes you don't ever get that chance again,And offseason program???? what about the other 12 playoff teams there not using that as an excuse. The Bengals for instance have rookies all over the place and are playing fairly well,we have season vets all over the place and are playing like an unknown college team...to many excuses how bout we just aren't good,we got lucky with 5 games last year against losing teams.Overtime agaisnt Lions,OT against Browns that guy fumbled in field goal range.Broncos game that pass interferance call with under 2 mins left, the Texans game the amazing 40 second comeback.we barely beat garbage teams last year we are overrated
I just think that Rex & Co. have to get real. Quit blowing smoke up the players ass and quit blowing smoke up the fans collective ass. After a while, it just looks foolish. We'll be lucky to go 9-7 this year. Bleech...average.
Junc. Your horseshit logic doesn't fly in Giants game. The game was a microcosm of Schottenheimer failure, no matter how you try to defend. The run game was ripping Giants soft middle apart all game, and that didn't materialize thanks to the genius of offensive coordinator you are defending. Then Jets dial up like 30 more passes when the run game is more than effective. Is that what you call "It is not the fault of OC but players" routine? Can you find that 3rd and long that was caused by poor run plays in Giants game? How many? Will you find one for me? Go get it. I didn't find much. Even that 99 yard TD catch was in part caused by that piss poor offensive play. Jets had to come away with a score, not a punt after a spectacular return by Kerley. (It was a short field, with LESS THAN 50 YARDS TO GO. You have to be an utterly stupid idiot not to be able to capitalize on such chances - and Schottenheimer has failed to capitalize on it times and again THIS SEASON ALONE.)
This offense has been beyond pathetic when it comes to getting the ball midfield or in that general area this entire season. We had a chance to end the Bronco game and we go 3 and out, we had a chance to drive down and score to tie last week and we go 3 and out, we had similar situations in the Oakland and the 2nd Buffalo game. 3 and outs in all occasions.
If you are right, which I highly doubt, then Rex is the one that should grow a pair. Going into a season without an OC that you do not want, jeesus, were do I start.
