Mulligan Hunter can't start. Smith should stay on ST and 46 defense to stop the run. Ducasse needs a solid OTA. Then we can cut his ass next year.
Let's be real: LT.........he's a great person, but his time has come. Mark Brunell........time to go. Bring in a vet to challenge Sanchez. Wayne Hunter....he's going to get his QB killed. Matt Mulligan.......he's mentally retarded on the football field. Plax...if he's too expensive. On the cheap OK!! Eric Smith...pay cut or it's outta here. Ducasse.....another project gone wrong. Bryan Thomas.....it's not official, but it will be.
I don't know why people are so set on seeing Ducasse go. As a project pick he's one guy we should be more patient with IMO. I'd like to see a clean sweep of our safeties unless Rex is going to have the light bulb turn on and realize Eric Smith is nothing more than a rotational guy that fits the 46 spot in that defense. I'd like to keep Hunter as a backup and a backup only. Folk - we need to do better. Conley - see Folk. Mulligan - self explanatory. Brunell - We need someone competent behind Sanchez Cromartie - make a tackle.
I think Brodney pretty much bought his ticket out of town on that play. Must have been his 50th concussion *ahem* migraine headache.
LT, B Thomas, Plax. Fill those spots via draft. I'd like to keep Eric Smith in the DB rotation, just not on the field as much. As hated as he is, he's a useful player. Replace Wayne Hunter as well.
Calvin Pace is someone we could upgrade from. I believe he is a free agent, too. I don't want to see Plax back. Honestly wouldn't mind if Holmes left, but we're not going to change the entire WR corps again.
I want him on Jets roster frankly speaking. I do not advocate cutting Hunter. Just, he contract must be redone, and he must fill the back-up OL role, not the starting RT role. Same for Eric Smith - once both safety spots are upgraded, he (and Pool) should fill the rotation role, not the starting role. If they cannot accept this fact and try to get a starter money, they should be sent packing immediately - see who bites. I don't think anybody will offer them anything with half semblance of starter money. The only one I would like to see out of Jets uniform is the Worse-than-Road-Pylon Mulligan. Since Jets are dangerously thin in terms of roster, I whole-heartedly endorse keeping most of the 'bad' ones as long as they are willing to accept their back-up status (and money.)
I love all Jets players, but I will rather some be backup done starters. Hunter is of course number 1 to be a backup and should not start for any NFL team. Both Safeties as well. LT should be let go and if possible, draft a young back. Bart Scott should mentor a young one next year. Need to pass the torch. Not going to lie, if we have shot at getting Manning, I will get him and cut some other players to accommodate him. However, I will not cut Sanchez I will rather he studied under Manning. What QB he will be if this was to happen? Can't wait!
There are only 5 people I absolutely do not want to see back (six if you include Schotty): Brunell, Leonhard, Scott, Mulligan, P.Turner Hunter is on the bubble. If he comes back as a back-up, and at back-up money, I'm OK with that. Otherwise GTFO.
Why would I want to get rid of those guys? They are the core of the team. It would be nice if Harris wasn't so slow, but he is what it he is.
You can't have an MVP or Probowler at every position, lets get realistic here. But seriously, Pace? There are a lot more positions that need upgrading well before Calvin Pace. Were already thin enough at that position
