By the way I'll take Sanchez over Stafford.

If you asked 32 GM's who they would rather have, Sanchez or Stafford, what do you think the outcome would be?

The debate isn't Braylon vs Johnson ... that's no contest.
It comes down to Braylon vs Holmes, and we made the wrong choice.

I was on record from Day 1 saying we should sign Braylon over Holmes, and I stand by it. Yes ... he's having a bad year in SF, but he was the better receiver of the two while he was here. When your QB is missing guys by two or three yards, you need a big target who can go get it (like Plax vs Buffalo) or fight for the ball. That's Edwards ... not Holmes. And if you look it up, you'll also see that Holmes puts it on the ground a little more often than Edwards does ... and he's no help for the run game.

No reason why we couldn't have signed Braylon and still signed Plax ... and That's what we should have done. Braylon was the better fit here.

Gregg Cosell who is usually pretty good at assessing QBs is down on Sanchez, reckons he makes too many poor reads for a QB with his experience. Rich Gannon, who worked with Sanchez, doesn't rate him at all.

I think they're going to be wrong, but only if the team supports their QB with an elite OL and consistency in his receiving corps. And a whole new set of TEs.

Obviously most would choose Master Blaster over Sanchez. And then they would scramble to find a great backup, because Master Blaster would spend half the season on the injury list.

So our front office put priority on Holmes. Holems is having the better season. Edwards was a healthy scratch while Ted Ginn is playing for the 49ers... and you still feel he's the better receiver.

Its seems man crushes are just as blinding as a crush on a woman.

I really don't give a fuck what they do out there in SF. That's their business. I care about what happens here.

Do I think Edwards is the better receiver?
    Look at the numbers ...

    Career:
    Edwards 6'3" 214 lbs - 98 games, 340 rec for 5,314 yards, 39 TDs
    Holmes 5'11" 192 lbs - 86 games, 334 rec for 5,185 yards, 34 TDs

    JETS ONLY:
    Edwards - 28 games, 88 rec for 1,450 yards, 11 TDs
    Holmes - 26 games, 99 rec for 1,350 yards, 14 TDs

Their numbers are basically even ... and Braylon played in a shitty Browns offense, and also in Sanchez' rookie season when they wouldn't even let him throw the ball. I'll take the bigger, stronger guy who can out-physical a defender if he needs to, fight for the extra few yards to get a first down, and help the running game. Especially in this offense, with this QB.

Holmes is great in space, but that doesn't happen too much in this offense.
Since Sanchez' passes are almost always going into a crowd, or missing guys by a mile, I'd rather have Edwards. Remember that TD against the Patriots in the Playoffs last year? ... or the catch that sealed the Indy game? ... You don't get that from Holmes.

No we didn't make the wrong decision. Holmes the better receiver but we are missing Braylon because he complimented Holmes on the other side of the field.
