Someone mentioned it in the gamethread, and it should be open for discussion. Shotty is hated on by us week in and week out. Hell, I've been apart of it too. However, if my memory serves me correctly, I haven't seen a Pettine bashing thread this season. Surely he is to blame just as much, right? Or is it because Rex is the defensive mastermind, that we are quick to blame him and give Pettine a pass?
There are more obvious shouldn't be in the NFL players on the defense that screw up on a weekly basis. You can't coach guys to be faster or not be terrible. Someone has to answer for the bums actually being on the roster on defense but I'm not sure its the DC.
PEttine has the right shit called. We dont have enough talent to execute (IE at safety) Jets have the talent on O just shit play calls
It's the same defensive staff that ran two great defenses the past two years. The players are not the same players from the past two years. If something changed in our performance, it stands to reason it is due to the changes in personnel. Pretty simple.

Last year rex still had a hand in defensive plays, defense want great, but I was better than this. Pettine takes over and defense isn't even servicable, and people want to give him a pass? I also think it is because people realize we do not have talent on the defensive of the ball. We have Harris and Revis who are two players that would start on almost every team in the league. Also, it is a lot easier to see confusion on offense, where on defense it is a lot harder to question playcalls based on what the TV shows us.
Smith said postgame that the Eagles knew and were shouting out the Jets' coverages before the plays. That sounds like a coaching problem

I would agree on that. This D just seems so much less aggressive than it was was in the past 2 seasons. I'm not sure if it has more to do with personnel or with opponents figuring out our scheme, but this D just doesn't look very scary anymore.
