Murrell2878's analysis of the Eagles' offense + some stat comparisons http://www.theganggreen.com/2011/12/15/a-look-at-eagles-offense Thank you
Good article, but one glaring error ... Jets Defense only gives up 17.5 ppg. - 5th best in the league. The 20.8 ppg shown, includes the 6 TD returns the offense has given up on INTs and fumbles.
That should be 8, not 6, if you consider those interceptions that wasn't exactly returned for 6, but ended up with a TD. (i.e. the Dallas game, where the INT was returned to 1 yard line)
funny, I was just about to add a note about the Lee INT to the 1 yard line in the Dallas game ... so the D has really only given up 17 ppg. I dont remember the 8th one. what was it?
Nacho threw a pick from his own end zone once - which was returned deep into the red zone. Of course, TD came out of it. *I forgot which game it was actually.*
Thanks. I was aware of that but wanted to use the NFL's standard for defensive scoring. I should have put in a disclaimer on that.
The Eagles still have a talented team, their defense is going to be in MS face all game, BS better give Wayne Hunter some help, they like to blitz and put pressure on the qb, it would not surprise me if our offense did not score more than 2 TDs. BS haters will be out in full force Sunday evening. Blocker get ready you will have a lot of typing to do.
How come we take the Lee Int to the 1 into consideration when talking about how much our D gave up, but we don't consider the many times the O has been put in great field position, like being put on the 1 in the Jag game, or being put in position to kick the game winning FG against Dal. Let's be fair.
You can't only adjust the Jets scoring and not the other 31 teams who have given up points through offense and special teams. The Jets may rank in the exact same position they currently do after adjusting everyone else.
Very true ... and I did think about that but was too lazy to edit. Regardless ... out D is giving up only 17 ppg, which I believe is actually a little better than last season.
Good breakdown of the game Murrell I really enjoyed the read. Petro this a good feature for the site. Can we expect to see more of these in the future?
You do have to consider the non-defensive points given up by the other 31 teams, but the Jets would NOT rank in the same position. Their offense has given up the most defensive scores in the NFL.
The defense has given up 234 pts. San Fran has given up 180, Pitt 192, Balt 196 and Houston 202. Putting the Jets in the #5 spot. The scores the O has given up move them back to 11th in pts per game.
