    http://nymag.com/daily/sports/2011/12/report-jets-fan-severely-beaten-on-sunday.html

At the risk of this already being posted (I'm sure it probably has) I wanted to bring this up as a topic of discussion. I'm sorry if this was already a topic that's been exhausted. Some people really need to get a grip on reality: ITS FOOTBALL! No need to turn it into a forum to insult New Yorkers about a terrorist attack that caused many of us to lose loved ones. I hope these people rot in jail. They deserve to.

As far as Mohr goes, I hope he's doing better and makes a speedy recovery. It really should serve the rest of us as a cautionary tale. I have absolutely nothing but respect for Mohr for responding the way he did...I'm not exactly certain how I would have responded to that situation. Its hard to hold back when people are acting that outlandish. However, whenever at these games its important to keep in mind (especially when you are alone) that there are people around that are just mentally unstable. If they are going around drunkenly screaming that we deserved 9/11, it stands to reason that this gang of KC fans is capable of worse things. The moral of the story should be that if you ever find yourself in a similar situation, just bite your tongue, swallow your pride, and walk back to your car and go home.

All the best to Mohr and his family...J-E-T-S!!!

Absolutely sick what happened to this guy. Looks like the State Police made one arrest. Hopefully that douche will snitch on his friends and all of them will do jail time.

That was messed up. Nothing wrong with ribbing the opposing fans a little bit but the atmosphere should always be safe.

Used to work @ Yankee Stadium during the early 90s and I was always amazed there wasn't more violence after games or traffic accidents. Some fans would show up to game already drunk & I remember fans struggling to even stand up straight still buying beers. Only thing I remember the team being proactive about was cutting beer off early in the bleachers. In the Yankees defense, that immediate are around the stadium would be crawling w/ police during games and they would up security whenever Boston was coming to town.

Considering how quick all these franchises are when it comes to raising ticket prices, they should spend a little bit more and have more security out there. Hopefully, these fools go to jail for a long time because examples need to be made.

Agreed 100%. If you can spend that much on luxury boxes, than you can higher some people to make sure this doesn't ever happen again. Especially in an economy where there are people who would be ecstatic and jump at the opportunity to take that job.

They should just STOP selling alcohol @ the games PERIOD, & if anyone is seen drinking alcohol while in the stadium or while tailgating they will be summarily fined & ejected from the premises. Until this is done these type of incidents will continue to occur. And if you think money is the issue due to the loss of sales, the owners will be breaking even for not having to spend more on security & lawsuits. And if the owners lose money due to the loss of sales they should just deal with it, they make more than enough money anyway.

Good call. Why don't we just sell the parking lots and all just stay home and watch on CBS.
Are you serious? What happened to this guy is not acceptable but to suddenly just lie down to this is just nonsense.
I've tail gated with some pretty belligerent fans over the years and believe me we let opposing fans know where we stand often through alcohol fuelled exuberance but we don't cross the line, and always welcome good nature banter.

I hope this guy makes a full recovery and the perpetrators are brought to boot but the game we love means that we fans have the right to put a few brews over our throat and talk football on a Sunday irrespective of how our team is performing!

No disrespect and I hope this strikes a chord with fans!

As much as this might tick off the drinkers out there, this is the only way short of public trials with extremely stiff sentences in every case, large or small, that this crap will stop.

If you look at the majority of these cases, I am certain you will find the 90% of them are alcohol related. This type of behavior is on the increase all over this country. Fans are being , assulted and killed more and more every year.

I certainly am not opposed to someone enjoying a adult beverage during a sporting event. It becomes a huge problem when someone cannot enjoy a sporting event, WITHOUT an adult beverage.

The day may be coming when sports team owners will have to seriously consider a zero tolerance and total ban on the sale or presence of alcohol at there events. I say this because in the end, the only people who will be willing to attend these events, will be the one who start out to get falling down drunk or causing trouble, because they cannot have "fun" otherwise...

With the advent of the "man cave" with all it's toys, large screen 3D TV's, excellent sound systems, comfortable seating, chosen friends, famiiar foods and beverages, controled enviroment, the true fan who just wants to enjoy the event without the drama and hassle or abuse, may just stay home.....

If you think about it, what you pay for season tickets, setting up the above "Man Cave" would cost the average fan about two years worth of season tickets .. Then factor in the cost of travel, and you end up coming out way ahead in both the pocket book and peace of mind...

While this may not happen next year or the next ten years, if the trend continues to become unsafe to attend games, it will happen !!!!

No way they will ever stop selling alcohol as people will always find a way to get to drunk anyway. Its a terrible story but lets not overreact here

People who don't drink aren't to be trusted. As Frank Sinatra once said: "I feel sorry for people who don't drink. When they wake up in the morning, that's as good as they're going to feel all day."

Getting rid of alcohol is unrealistic. There are a lot of people who drink at the games and don't engage in this type of behavior. In fact, about 99.99999% of the drunk people at games don't engage in this type of behavior. Just because of the few idiots that do, you suggest getting rid of something that is one of the biggest money makers in the business? C'mon man, you gotta have more brains than that. The fact of the matter is that there are idiots and assholes in the world, and there always will be. The most important thing is to keep this in mind when you are at the game, and do your best to just bite your tongue and walk away. Also, I also think that the response should be MORE SECURITY in the parking lot. You almost never hear about this stuff happening within the confines of the stadium, because there is security personnel within striking distance to stop the nonsense. They need to stop cutting corners on the things that are important like security, and stop putting the entire budget into worthless upgrades like luxury box amenities, etc. Think about the difference it would make if they devote like 0.001% of what they spent on that ridiculous eye-sore of a stadium on new and improved parking lot security. This would never happen again. The training should be "if you see anybody in the opposing jersey, pay attention." Equip them with tazers. DONE.

PJ O'Rourke: "Never refuse wine. It is an odd but universally held opinion that anyone who doesn’t drink must be an alcoholic."
