We scored on a recovered fumble in Denver, but it was our fumble so that's still an offensive score. We have three safeties, including one just a few days ago.
blocked punt vs. Dal Safety vs, Jax INT return, KO return vs. Bal INT return vs. Miami Safety vs. NE safety vs. KC 34 non offensive points for the year
ahhh - forgot about the Safety vs. Jax. There's still a 7 point difference between what that site estimates and what we've come up with. Can anyone find Waldo?
Cromartie returned a pick to the 1 yard line thats the only thing that I can think of. Edit: DUH Joe Mcknight returned a kick.
My guess is they are counting the Den fumble recovery even though our OL scored it so it was an offensive score.
I was wondering if maybe that was it, and that would explain the "estimated" tag. It's not a bad thought, but it also opens up a can of worms - doesn't it? What yard line do they start considering INT or fumble returns as defensive scores?
No one mentioned the McKnight return TD vs Ravens or are you counting that. Edit: Uh I didnt see you had it written next to int by Harris.
Every year that Rex has been head coach, he has had to step in and make changes on offense, including this one. Or does 'Return to Ground and Pound' sound like a vote of confidence for Schotty? What Rex says in pressers about anyone means less than a tiny hill of beans.
Our personnel is built to run the football that is not Schotty's fault. Its the philosophy Rex has wanted and Schotty follows suit. This year we have thrown the ball much better and the only hiccups we really had on offense was when our O line was playing like dogshit. With the exception of Hunter they are playing better. Being a running team does not mean Rex has no confidence in Schottenheimer.
How about his book? I've never read it personally but I've heard from those who have that he has very high praises for Schotty in it saying something about him becoming a head coach soon. I've never claimed he was the greatest OC or anything like that but he is no slouch like others have made him out to be. Its hard to bash a guy who is calling plays for the offense that is #6 in overall points, 1st in redzone efficiency, and all that with a 3rd year QB that many question and a O line that was awful for a good portion of the season.
Imagine what we could do with a couple of high end free agents on the offensive line....I can always dream but don't you guys see this as one our most important areas to look at in the offseason......
Well you know something is wrong when we're all like.. Whoa? We know we can score points, its just that we can't score them consistently, that's really the thing we must fix.
RT and RG for sure. Moore isnt done yet so I'd rather try and find someone who can be groomed for his replacement maybe through the draft but I don't want to see Hunter as our RT again. We really need a replacement and fast. RT and Safety are the 2 biggest areas of concern for me.
I looked it up, we are 10th in offensive pts scored. 1. GB 417(D/STs scored 49 pts) 2. NO 394(21) 3. NE 375(21) 4. Det 332(35) 5. NYG 315(9) 6. SD 310(14) 7. Dal 310(7) 8. Hou 309(21) 9. Car 302(11) 10. NYJ 293(34) 11. Atl 293(7) 12. Bal 292(28) 13. SF 284(23) 14. Phi 274(23) The bottom few may be wrong but the next teams all had less pts than our 293 so I didn't want to waste time looking them up. 10th in pts scored is not bad for a team w/ no QB or OC, right?
I went team by team checking their D/STs scores, I stopped after Philly since there was no chance the teams below could have scored more than us.
Considering that some of the teams above us have worse records than we do, don't you think that's a little presumptive?
Our actual points scored is 293 after removing the D/STs points. The 16th team on the list(oakland) scored 290 pts including D/STs so how would it be possible for them to score more pts if I remove their D/STs points? I did miss one team through- Chicago Their O scored 250(D/STs scored 51)
