I saw the SuperFan thing last year (did not get it) but I didn't know about the HDTV. Thanks for the info.
This will be year 3 of "Sunday Ticket" for me. As much as I can understand that it's a PIA it's well worth it IMO. If you have directv and you don't live in the NY area I can't see why you wouldn't want to get it. This year should be the best since my basement is almost finished and the projector is ready for some sunday games.
Anyone get this offer? For being a DTV Direct ticket subscriber They gave me 1 year of SI and 2 free PPV movies a month for a year:beer:
nope, I've done studies :drunk: Lets say there are 4 (JETS) games on broadcast TV a season, I'll watch those at home, and I try to go to 1 or 2 games a year. The rest I'll watch at the bar. My local sportsbar has dollar drafts (and $5 pitchers) on football sundays, not to mention food specials too. $200 will buy alot of beer/ food at that rate, not to mention it's ALOT more fun being around a bunch of football / JETS fans and being able to see everygame on TV at the same time, surrounded by TVs, instead of sitting on my couch. :jets:
If you go to 2 games, you've already paid for 75% of the Sunday Ticket.... Your "study" is flawed. You also do not get to watch all the other games.
So you must spend between 15 and 20 dollars everytime you go to the bar.(3 pithchers 1 app) I guess that's right but did you figure in gas prices? That could put you over the top. But you would definitely have to go to 2 games. If you don't then I don't see how you could stay under that number unless you don't drink a lot. JetsIn2004 Quote; "If you go to 2 games, you've already paid for 75% of the Sunday Ticket.... Your "study" is flawed. You also do not get to watch all the other games." I don't count road trips. I think they're special events that would affect a direct TV customer you even if you lived in NY. Actually you would have to credit that to his savings?! That's 12.5 bucks a game. +25 dollars! Maybe he has something there.
U all R presuming that EVERYBODY that is a NYJ fan lives in NYC so they C the away/home games are local TV. People who DO NOT get local NY TV & want to watch the NYJs watch all there games except any Sunday/Monday nite games or Sat games which are on national TV. Lets say a person lives in California & wants to C the NYJs he would use hos DirectTV package 15 times as they are national TV only once this year. Now divide that by $200.00 that gives U access to all the games being played every Sunday but national games & U C what a bargain it is for out of towners. I have 2 receivers so I can watch the NYJs + any other game NOT going to be on Sunday or Monday that I choose. Then after the early games are over I watch the late games. NYJ season tix are now $65.00 per game + parking $20.00 + tolls/gas to get to the game. Times that for 10 games & that is 1G per seat without POs for the season. Give me break when U do the math DirectTV is the only way to go.
I was gonna say that this formula above would be for the local guy on the cheap. Out of town guys/gals get the bargin for sure. I also think it would be fair to include the monthly fee too though if you bought it exclusivly to watch the Jets. That's another 150 dollars from Sept to Jan. of course the second year you have it and on with the 4 mos. deal.
No, I don't believe that's fair, because you are getting those channels which you would not get at the bar. DirecTV is cheaper than cable, so you can cancel the cable. You won't be able to just keep DirecTV for 4 months. They want a 1 yr commitment, and 2 yrs if you want HD.
For those who jumped on DirectTV when it came out they allowed U at that time to JUST buy the NFL package. Those people are grand fathered in & so long as they keep it year to year they ONLY have to buy the NFL package
Vision, make sure you get the upgunned 5-LNB dish so you can get local HD broadcasts as well. Best Buy had the HD tuners for $100 (lease) if you already own a HD box.
That leaves me out. That is a deal in a half for them. But even without that. What you said about when you consider getting all the other games it does blow away going to the bar on convienience alone.
That's a good point. There are so many pro's to having football at home or a friends house for sure. I think though for those who like that atmosphere would prefer to mingle in the crowd and mix it up.
