Braylon Edwards played just 11 snaps in the 49ers' Week 14 loss to the Cardinals.

Edwards did not catch a pass. In eight games this year, he has 14 catches for 172 yards and no touchdowns.

    ---

Maybe we can get him back next season for a bit less than he was asking for this past offseason?

Some Giant fans this summer were telling me how much better Plaxico would be than Braylon. I didn't believe them but they were right, of course nobody knew Braylon would be injury plagued.

If Plax asks for too much money I could see us being interested.

They weren't right for the right reasons.

If they were both healthy, there would be no comparison between the two.

Plax is way better in the RZ. Braylon stretches the field way more.

    Both have strengths.

I'd sign him for like a 2-3 year deal but that's about it.

id like to have plax, and braylon.

Holmes, Braylon on each sideline. Plaxico has worked well over the middle, and a redzone monster.

Holmes, Plaxico, Edwards, Keller, and Kerley sounds like a pretty god damn WR corps.

    all with chemistry as well.

it is extremely unlikely to happen though. i still think we need to keep plax.

he is probably going to want more than 1 year, which i wouldnt want to do.

i would pay him 3 mil a year, just to come into the game at the redzone to be honest.

i like how plax has made a bunch of catches over the middle, and i think 90% of his catches are 1st downs.

on braylon....i like the front office, and braylon burned a bridge.

that really sucks because game 1 of braylons career with the jets, he had a instant chemistry with sanchez.

sanchez is still young, and keeping the same personnel is very important.

hell even brady struggles with new wrs.

Edwards, Plax and Holmes woulda been amazing. A deep threat, redzone threat, and a solid route runner who is clutch.

I'd hope that Braylon would reconsider after having a crappy season with the 49ers. Never know with that guy though.

It would be sick, in 3 and 4 wide sets with Braylon and Plax on the outside, Holmes in the slot, Kerley or Keller running around on the inside too. It would be difficult for teams to cover all of that.

The Jets have so many needs other than WR though, but it's fun to think about.

get a young WR prospect or more proven veteran. someone with potential needs to be paired with Holmes for the next 4-5 yrs

Plax being unable to stretch the field is killing us. he could move in the slot and dominate NB's dont know if his ego would allow that.

Braylon Edwards was benched in Week 15 for performance, not injury-related reasons.

"Just based on the practices and the games," coach Jim Harbaugh explained when asked why Edwards wasn't one of San Francisco's three wide receivers who played against the Steelers. "We'll see with Ted (Ginn), but I think Braylon should be ready to go and (I) look for a good week of practice there."

We'd be surprised if the 49ers made any attempt to re-sign Edwards this spring. Dec 20 - 4:59 PM

Braylon signed with SF pretty much after the market had dried up, and his stock has only fallen further this season. He's going to have to sign another short "prove it" deal this offseason, and if we show interest in bringing him back he'd be wise to take us on the offer.

The Jets seemed to know what they were doing, I mean Braylon might have been a little more productive if he had stayed with the Jets but clearly would not have been a valid #2 for whatever reason he hasn't been at San Fran. I trust the front office, so if he comes and they think he is healthy I would totally love for them to re-sign him. But it's almost not worth speculating about since no one really knows what the overall lack of production is all about, and if it will still be a factor by the off-season. Plax is great in the red zone, but he can't play as a #2 right now because he just doesn't have the speed to be a huge threat. It's too easy for teams to cover our passing attack over the other 80% of the field. Why is Holmes not playing as dominantly this year? Well 1) he is coming off a fat contract, and we see players take it a little easier all the time after things like that, but 2) because he was playing opposite Hines Ward at first and then Braylon Edwards/Jerricho Cotchery which allowed us to keep defenses honest. Our only deep threat as far as I can tell right now is Holmes, and he will draw safety help too often to make those plays. No matter who it is, we need someone to come here because I honestly don't believe Plax is an "every down receiver."
