This has probably been mentioned somewhere here, but I couldn't find it. I thought I heard Rex mention the other day that the Jets have never won AT Philly. When I went to check, I was surprised to see that the Jets have never won against the Eagles (home or away). They are 0-8. The Eagles are the only team the Jets have never defeated. http://www.pro-football-reference.com/boxscores/game_query.cgi?tm1=nyj&tm2=phi&yr=all While the Jets don't play them often, a funny historical quirk is that the Jets never had a winning record in a season in which they played the Eagles. That either means that they have historically played us in a down year OR we are doomed to lose our final 3 games. Let's rectify this historical anomaly on Sunday!
I think these kind of stats are way overrated. The 2007 Jets were a completely different team, not to mention the earlier games.
I remember the Saturday game at Giants Stadium when the Jets were really bad at the time. I think the Jets lost 21-20. Then I remember the 03 game in Philly where the Jets played well, used Vinny then switched to Chad but lost in the end. Then I remember the TERRIBLE game in 07 at home where the Jets wore Titans jerseys and the offense could do nothing.
We only had one win in our history against Washington going into the game 2 weeks ago. The funny thing about the Philly series is we have had a chance to win every game played btw the 2 since 1993. 1993 we led 21-0 and lost 1996 we led 20-7 in the 4th and lost(this was a miserable game and season, this a Saturday game late in the season and I would say maybe 20,000 people were there with at least half being Eagle fans) 2003 we led 17-14 in the 4th(this was the game Vinny started and Chad came in during the 2nd qtr) 2007 we lost 16-9, late in the agme we had a 2nd and 1 at the Philly 4 and we failed to score a TD or even get the 1st down.
The Jets were winless against Pittsburgh in Pittsburgh a few years ago. Until they won. I think Kellen Clemens was under center.
that streak is gonna come to one grinding motherfucker of a halt, the boys are going to bounce back from the loss of Leonhard this time with a win instead of a blowout loss like last year. Let's add to Westhoffs saying, fuck the eagles!!
The defense is on a high right now. Let us continue to send the message that we are no push over. There will be no " come from behind victory " for the Eagles against the Jets
No, our first win in Pitt was last year. We did beat Pitt in '07 w/ Clemens but we had beaten them at home in '88 and '03 previously.
I think the graphic last year was 1-9 in Pennsy all time. 0-4 to Filthydelphia and 1-4 to Pitt. Then we beat the Squeelers to further secure a playoff birth. We do the same Sunday (I hope)
This game will foreshadow what is to come for the rest of the season. If we lay a beating on the eagles it will instill so much confidence in this team we just might go on a roll of epic proportions. If we lay an egg....well we can prepare for an early exit or worse. I have faith we will put an ass whooping on the "dream team" and Cro will have 2 pics to prove that he is the better option to you know who! Put that in your pipe and smoke it!
The 1993 game we should have had, we were leading and driving late to put it away and Boomer got picked by Eric Allen, who ran through the whole Jets team the length of the field. I think Johnny Mitchell had about 12 catches in that game. Even with the 20-7 lead late in the 1996 game I felt like we were going to lose, we were 1-13 coming in. Aaron Glenn returned an INT for a TD. The 2007 game I was at, remember nothing about it except the Titans uniforms. It was weird because everyone in the stadium was wearing green except the Jets, including the opponent. First time they wore those.
I've been saying similar shit friends of mine that history has been rewritten with Rex as HC. The Jets have never gone to the post season 3 consecutive times in their history.
