Completely disagree. The difference is the OL. Mangold is healthy, finally, and the OL is opening holes that just weren't there earlier in the year. Greene is the same back he was in September except then he was healthy and now is a little banged up.

The OL has stopped being lazy on run plays and are blocking downfield. Having a FB and/or a TE helps make up for the lack of talent on the OL. I bet Callahan had a lot to do with this.

Greene sucks. Should have had at least 200 yards today.

only a hand full of smart asses on GG, they know who thet are

Whats really funny is that this topic was suppose to be about how Green has regressed this year. Boy, its funny that some people claim they have all the answers but never even knew the entire question before answering.

    Some posters are like this:

You are having great sex and the other person instead of being passionate and into it, they want to talk and show how smart and intelligent they are.WTF?

Not sure what your point is. You wanted another team to hire Schotty as an HC and thought giving him an extension was a smart move so the Jets would get draft choices. I want him gone too, but the extension wasn't the kind of move I was praising. Nuff said?

Bottom line, for a white guy, Greene is pretty impressive.

It's funny how quick some were to shit on Greene and want him out of here. Yes he struggled early in the season, when there was no commitment to the run, Moore was rusty from surgery, and Mangold got hurt and missed some games.

In those first 4 games, before they decided to re-commit to the run, Greene had just 51 carries for 157 yards and a TD.

Since then, he has 156 carries for 711 yards, 4.6 per carry, and 5 TD's.

He's been especially great the past 3 games, running 59 times for 295 yards, 5.0 per carry, and 4 TD. He's also added 9 catches for 96 yards. Pretty impressive if you ask me. I just don't see how he's regressed.. perhaps someone can help me out. Or could it be that some fans are just too fickle and don't understand what's going on on the field?

I'm not sure if I'd called it 'beast mode'. Marshawn Lynch makes him look like a scat back. But he's becoming a well rounded back, which he needs to be, since the power he showed in college certainly didn't translate to the pro level. He is constantly folded up by linebackers.

I am really glad to see him become a threat in the short passing game.

Well very few guys are able to bust through tackles like Lynch has been doing the past year or so. But Greene certainly has his moments where he puts his shoulder down and tacklers bounce off him. He looked great this past week.

I think we'll see more of that down the stretch as the weather gets colder and he becomes a chore to keep tackling.

If you listen to Rex in his press conferences, it sounds like they focus on Greene more at the end of the year. Almost like it's too much for one back to carry the load all year, we remember how Thomas Jones got worn down even though he got 1,402 yards he was ineffective in the playoffs. In the warmer weather it seems to be more about passing and LT, etc, but when you get down to the end Greene seems to emerge.

Rex said as much yesterday. I'm not sure how much is by design and how much is planned, but I'm starting to think they plan it this way. He's constantly saying how everything they do is geared to being at their best late in the year, this may be part of it.

Lol what game are you watching. Greene smashes linebackers who all outweigh him. You can't expect him to treat them like cornerbacks. He runs over more people then any back in the NFL outside of Lynch, Jacobs, and maybe Blount.

I have been watching the same games as you, without the green goggles. He can run through his fair share of safeties, but when he hits an ILB, he folds. I re-watched the KC game yesterday, and was startled at the number of times a single tackler made him look like he hit a wall. Stop fooling yourself, he's not a beast. He's an above average power back who is finally rounding his game out.

Wow, 868 yards so far with 3 games left to go - looks like he'll easily break 1,000. I'm really impressed. After the first few weeks he looked like he'd be lucky to break 500.

I wasn't in the camp that thought he had regressed, but I never expected him to pick it up this much. Let's just hope those sore ribs hold up...

Like I said, hardly any running backs can maul over linebackers. If you didn't know, they typically weigh more then running backs. Greene is one of the top pain dishers in the NFL.
