I don't read much about other teams but I think the Jets have a good group of beat reporters. Too bad the most famous one has to be Cimini (who, to his credit, does turn in a good article every once in a while).

Coach Smith told Maybin to forget about all the other pass rush moves and just focus on his speed rush.

Then Coach Smith had Maybin start working on his 'up and in' move, which is what Maybin used to seal the 'Skins game.

This may explain many of the posts here on TGG about Maybin being one dimensional. Hopefully as time marches on Maybin will build a solid collection of rush moves.

I'd still love to see Maybin schooled in the fine art of playing Free Safety. If Maybin is just too small to play LB against the run (see Westerman), then try his speed and agility at Free Safety.

Something that would keep his speed and talent on the field for all 3 snaps, not just 3rd and long, would be amazing.

1st and 10 or 2nd and short, Maybin would have a bullseye on him at free safety. Now having him play as a 5th LB at strong safety could be nice to mix things up from time to time. If they could teach him to cover the TE that is.

Very nice read. Actual reporting over calling a kid a druggie 5 seconds after he is drafted is wonderful. Manish >>>>>> Cimini.

This article is very upbeat. I was worried that Maybin was having success simply because he was catching teams off guard with his speed after his years of failure in Buffalo.

But from the people who speak of Maybin in this article, it seems like he might actually be motivated, hard working, and studious enough to develop into a legitimate pass rusher.

He's had great success so far this year in getting "coverage" type sacks, but the sack against Grossman showed that he is learning and will keep improving.

I'll be rooting for both of these guys.

Or destroying any positive contributions that Maybin did in the preseason just because he was a bust in Buffalo. Cimini is awful.

Great read. Sometimes it's the little things that make a big difference.
