im confused....i watch the games and all I say to myself is this team sucks, but then I look at the stats and we are #1 in red zone offense, #7 in total defense and 7-5. SOMEONE HELP ME UNDERSTAND!
We do suck but the league in general sucks this year. The combination of FA, cap, no TC and a shortened pre-season has left the league in shambles. Games this year are almost unwatchable.
blasphemy - the folks in KC have a warped view of offensive football - likely due to papa schottenheimer.
The problem is the D ranking is based on yds so a game like denver we don't allow yds all game then when the game is on the line we allow a 95 yd TD drive. The D has been terrible in big spots for the most part(not last week). On offense we don't get into the RZ enough.
Especially since Schaub got hurt, the number of dominant teams in the AFC is now as small as I can remember in a long, long time. So there's that. Another is that two weeks ago the Jets were 5-5 after crapping the bed two weeks in a row, with their best chance to take control of the division squandered. Now they have won two in a row against weak, damaged teams. And not looked good in either, bad enough that they would have probably lost if they had played good teams. The good news is they won them, and are still in the hunt, and there just may be some indications here and there that they are improving overall at the right time in the season. But with four games left and a single loss likely to be enough to mean no playoffs, it's too early to celebrate the season, that's for sure. I do give credit to the O for the red zone efficiency, though. Except for Schotty, of course. He gets no credit for good things, only all the bad for bad things.
We have a good team, its just this stupid turnovers (dropping punts) has KILLED us. If we fix that, and Sanchez doesnt throw anymore pick 6's we are very deadly.
KC media is just preparing their fans for the butt-whipping they're going to get Sunday That's my story and I'm sticking to it
It has been , without a doubt, the worst season I can recall as far as quality of play. And like you say, theres been a ton of games ( mostly prime time it seems) that have been completetly unwatchable
Oh come on now. Don't go crying for Schotty getting a raw deal. The Jets red zone effectiveness can be largely attributed to one guy, Plax. He's a mathup nightmare in the redzone and even when he's not actually the guy catching the TD, the opposing D needs to account for him. As for Schotty...well, when your offense is as uneven as the Jets' O has been there's only one place to look to start. People like to blame Sanchez, but his numbers are the best he's ever had. Besides, Schotty has sucked for years, even before Sanchez was here.
So when we do good it's because of the players but when we do bad it's because of the coach? Gotcha.
Good thing we have a good defense. 19 TDs is still a career high # for Mark for a season, and we still have 3 games left. I could see him finish with 24-25 passing TDs, depending. I like that our red zone efficiency has improved so much, but we need to avoid the 3 and outs. We have way too many of them and they are the main reason our yardage drags behind ppg. Points are obviously more important than yards, however, but every little bit helps.
Pretty much. We have huge flaws despite some good numbers. 3rd downs have been killing our offense. Our pass protection untill late was awful. Our Defense has a tendency to give up big plays in big spots. Things are as ugly as the look to us.
So basically our offense is like the Patriots Defense; not good yardage numbers, but much better scoring numbers.
