Just released by the Chiefs. We should give him a shot at least as a backup and maybe an upgrade over Hunter.

you dont get cut from your team week 11 if you are any good at all, barring extenuating circumstances. see orton, kyle

I don't disagree, but he can't be any worse than Hunter. If the Jets had better options wouldn't Hunter be on the street?

If the Jets want to protect Sanchez, an upgrade over Wayne Hunter is needed. That RT spot needs to be shored up. Gaither is worth a look, imo.

Normally that'd be true, but this is the Chiefs.

Hunter has played awful but I find it hard to believe that someone can be cut and come in off the streets and fill in for him.

Of course theres always exceptions to everything. Gurode has been great for the Ravens but it is not easy to just step into an Oline and play well. It takes time to get used to your teammates. Hunter gets beat a lot but the O line atleast knows how to play with eachother. We are also coming off their best performance of the year.

I understand that. I dont' expect miracles. But it wouldn't behoove Tanny to give Gaither a look. Keep in mind, their best performance of the year was against an anemic Buffalo Bills pass rush...that's not setting the bar pretty high.

Hunter overall hasn't looked good this year. This season told us that he's more suited in a backup role....certainly a miscalculation on the part of the front office.

If the run game and pass protection can be improved, and we're still alive in the wildcard race. Tanny should be looking at players like Gaither to see if they can contribute in the short term.

Im not against giving him a shot as a backup. Ducasse has certainly proved he's not ready at all. I just dont think he could start even over Hunter. I certainly wouldn't mind seeing him as an extra blocker for Sanchez seeing as how he is absolutely massive and we have 0 O line depth.

And yes the Bills pass rush sucks. Hopefully though they built up some confidence because they will need it against the Redskins.

I watched him when I watched Ravens game with one of my friends. I wasn't terribly impressed by him, but he's not terrible.

this is exactly right. It doesnt hurt to look, but expecting miracles is flat out insane because this guy just got cut by a 4 win chiefs team. He is not exactly going to be our saving grace. Hell we may not even bring him in for a workout. We definately should. Hunter is a problem and we needto look anywhere we can to find an upgrade. It can't hurt to bring him in, and I hopewe do. Just don't expect much if we do...

He was brought in for one play Sunday night when Albert got hurt and he jumped off sides.

I completely agree with the link that Haley is just scape-goating him after an embarrassing loss.

Bring him in, if only for jumbo packages.

The Jets face the Chiefs in 2 weeks so that, to me, is reason enough to bring him in.

The fact is that Ducasse and Schlauderaff are the OLine backups. Scary.

Saw that offsides play. Came in for one play and jumped. Looked like he had been sleeping on the sidelines. He is a monster of a man however! Bring him in!

Exactly... he's not better than Hunter right now but let's bring him in for depth purposes.

We only have Ducasse, Howard and Schaluderaff right now...

not necessarily....the guy came in on one play against the steelers on a crucial drive and got called for a false start...

probably a statement move by the cheifs, to send a message to the roster.

gaither has been a good player i'd definitely bring him in....for depth down the stretch at the very least.

Yeah thats pretty much what I was thinking... If we have another injury on the line, the wild card race is out of question.

And in both passing and run blocking situations Gaither has to be better than Mulligan in jumbo packages, so I hope the Jets pick him up even if its not to replace Hunter, but at least provide depth
