gotta give the guy credit... ran really hard today and you could tell he was in a lot of pain. was slow to get up after a lot of runs but kept grinding and made some key blocks on the TD to holmes.

    Gutsy performance by Green today

I am surprised that this isn't being more discussed around here. Green was in very obvious pain after every single carry and it obviously limited the number of carries he got. Green could have gone for 150 yards today if his ribs weren't holding him back.

Or the play calling. When the Jets are running for 5-6 yards a carry, why aren't the backs getting 30 carries a game????? Why don't the Jets have a more balanced attack. The Jets ran only 23 times today vs 35 passes. Of those 23 runs, one was a QB sneak to avoid a replay, one was a QB scramble, and two were reverses. That means the Jets called only 19 traditional running plays and 35 passes against a team that was giving up 6 yards a carry.

    That is horrible play calling.

Green was running great, McKnight only had one good run.

I suppose they could have ran the ball more with McKnight but it was clear that Green was doing more damage. If Green didn't need to come to the sidelines after every hit he took the ground game would have been a bigger part of the game, no doubt. Sucks that the first day the line really opened up some holes Green wasn't anywhere near 100%.

It really just defies all logic. Regardless of his 4 TD passes today, Sanchez made many questionable (and several double-face-palm worthy) throws and yet we still saw a lopsided, pass-heavy offensive scheme. Even with Greene in pain he was breaking good runs and if he wasn't physically able to take on more carries we should have seen McKnight have a bigger role.

Every time the running game gets going good Schotty decides that we need to spread it out and take to the air - it's driving me fucking crazy.

McKnight only got 4 carries and had a total of 21 yds (long of 9). As good as the Oline was playing I feel that he should have been given more opportunities considering Greene's physical state. The passing game was a much bigger crap shoot than the running game tonight.

Powell was active too, I believe. He should have gotten some looks.

Greene looks great when hes healthy, too bad whenever he gets hit he is slowly getting back up looking hurt 50% of the time

He definitely could have used more carries. Not quite sure why he only got 4.

I don't care who gets the carries. 23 runs v 35 passes in that game is why Schotty has to go.

If he was healthy the offensive is probably a lot more efficient, thus limiting the amount of attempts Sanchez needs to make

The Jets are missing the most important part of the rotational back scheme: the guy who can give you 15+ carries every game and stay on the field. Greene isn't that guy. He's the guy you bring on to spell the first guy when the defense has begun to wear down. He's damn good at that role.

Exactly how I feel as well. We weren't behind. We weren't getting stuffed. We weren't having success passing the ball, and yet we continued to pass the ball, even going 5 wide at times, with a QB and WRs who are clearly struggling. Our OLine was dominating the line of scrimmage. Let them keep battering the shit out of them and give our D a break.

greene was hurt and i guess they didn't trust mcknight with too many attempts. they figured his fumble tendencies might carry over to the run game.

Greene's running style is going to lend itself to injuries like this. Good show of heart from him, though. He looked like he should have been taken out after every run yet he still put up 6YPC. This running game has the chance to actually help the offense and yet it still gets neglected. #bitchingafterawin

Sanchez passing into triple coverage was a lot scarier than the possibility of McKnight coughing it up on a run.

we dont want either, so greene needs to be healthy to limit both their attempts.

Agreed 1000000000%. This fucking clown (Schotty) thinks he is sooo cleaver. He outsmarts himslef 90% of the time; guy must have voices in his head. Why in the fuck would we pass the ball ever if we were getting 6 a carry? Then we have drives when we come out and throw three times....3 and out. Lets face it, when playing the Bills we need to run the ball to a 70-30 split.

Guy needs to go...he is pulling Rex and Petitie down too. The Defense is gassed with the three and outs (passing) and no clock is run off; extending the game. We need to run the ball, control the LOS, and run clock on offense. Mix in PA and take a shot deep every 8-10 plays (to keep the D honest). This is how the Jest are built; and if a fan can see this and an overpaid OC cant....there is more wrong with this team than I thought!
