true but the packers and steelers both have won superbowls during the lifetime of the majority of their fans. if you were to look at any franchise over the last 20 years it would be hard to find one that has had less success (whilst coming so close) or more frustrating losses than the jets. the only team i can think of that would have caused me more grief to follow during my time as an NFL fan would be the Bills with all those brutal Superbowl losses.
I defy any team, especially the two that were cited, (GB & PIT) to come up with a list of heartbreaking losses like the Jets have suffered. Its not worth listing them all, but how about, oh..say... '86 play-offs vs Cleveland just for starters PS I love how all the old guys on this thread say they still react like the little kid:lol:
The video made me chuckle pretty good. Monday I was walking from work to take the bus home and I saw a guy wearing a Bart Scott jersey. In my city there are not very many NFL fans, and there are a significantly smaller number of Jets fans. I smiled, he saw me and stood up and said loudly "WHAT?" I chuckled out loud because it was obvious he had been getting the piss taken out of him all day, but he didn't give any fucks because he was a true fan. Win or lose, his was backing his team. I explained to him I was a Jets fan and we had a good laugh. He left me with some good motivational words: "Don't worry we'll turn it around."
These last 2 years have been a relief. It hasn't been so bad being a Jets fan since 98. Its the 10+ years before that I haven't gotten over yet. The arrow is pointing up on this team. Another playoff appearance makes this only the 2nd coach in Jets history with 3 consecutive PO appearances. And we are winning in the post season instead of being 1 and done. The Rex era has produced 4 playoff wins. Parcells & Edwards over 9 years produced the same. We've mostly been 1 and done in the PO's so 2009 & 2010 have been quite special.
It'll actually be the first time in franchise history that we made the playoffs three years in a row.
This kid is gonna be pissed when he's around 15 and starts getting shit from his friends because of this. But I can relate. I'm just glad cell phone cameras and YouTube didn't exist in 1986. The name "Mookie" sounds funny when it's uttered through a torrent of child tears.
You're correct. I thought Weed got 3 in a row. Hermie got 3 PO appearances out of 6 years and Mangini & Parcells 1. 2 PO wins for Hermie though. Colts & SD
One of the first things I taught my son to say (maybe 1- 1 1/2 yrs old) was Miami Dolphins are kokka pooie (sp?).
Since Rex got here, like him or not,he's instilled a change in our culture. For the 1st time in a while, we expect to win.We have a lot of issues to address with both the coaching staff and the players but I'm cautiously optimistic in our future. That being said, I think this season is looking sketchy. I still can't believe we lost to a a team who starts a virgin FB cheerleader at QB.
Oh the Jets are plenty special. When there is a youtube video dedicated to your draft failures, trust me you're shitty. You are correct though, there's no curse. It's just a badly run organization.
Great video. I only cry on the inside now, although not as much since Rex. Happy Thanksgiving to all!
You know what is really sad about that Video, that kid knows more about this team at his age then half the people "experts" who write about them, and 10 times more then the idiot from ESPN...Richy boy...
