Howard is massive at 6'7" and 333 pounds. To put that in perspective, Jason Peters is 6'4", 340 pounds, but size isn't everything for an NFL tackle.

In 2007 Howard was a TE, recording 38 yards on five receptions and one TD reception, but for the most part he was a blocking tight end, which made his transition to tackle that much easier.

He started 10 games in 2009 at left tackle, anchoring a squad that ranked seventh in the nation in sacks allowed (10 sacks in 11 games).

Howard should prove to be a solid backup should Jason Peters go down for an extended period of time

Good.. so basically for us he's going to be a T / jumbo TE... love it (exactly what we need position-wise). Man I wish E was around to tell us more about this guy.

I bet he gets some snaps when we run the ball lol. Maybe this will wipe that stupid laugh Hunter has after allowing a sack. and light a fire under his ass.

Biography: Three-year starter who broke in with the first team as a tight end in 2007, All-Conference selection the past two years.

Positives: Big, athletic blocker with a good degree of upside. Blocks with a wide base, keeps his feet moving nicely adjusts to pick up blitzes thrown by the opposition. Displays good movement skills, effective on the second level, and can hit a moving target. Plays with a large degree of quickness. He's a solid position blocker and easily controls opponents once engaged the point of attack, makes solid use of angles and body positioning.

Negatives: He gets lazy with his hands at times and does not stick them into defenders.. Does not finish blocks and tends to fall off defenders. Must improve his overall body strength.

Analysis: Howard has taken to the tackle position since moving there his junior season. He possesses an NFL body and is a solid long term developmental prospect who should be stashed on a teams practice squad. Has the build to be used on the right side, yet his athleticism and movement skills will also give him an opportunity at left tackle.

    Projection: FA

I am 100% with you on the stupid face Hunter makes he gives up a sack. I'd be super pissed off If I was Mark. To get up off the ground and see that dumbass standing there grinning like just farted would piss me off so much.

But this guy is actually here to light a fire under Mulligans ass I think. It says that he was playing tight end before they started trying him at tackle. It seems like he is the perfect fit for us.

When we go into out 1 receiver formation with this dude at TE, Vlad as a 6th lineman, and Greene with Terminator in the back field, that is going to some force. Or we could take out Vlad and get Keller in for double TE and open up the pass a little. Do this formations makes sense ?

At this point i would take Austin Powers or Trevor Howard ( one for the oldies) as RT or Blocking TE

This is really late but I guess better late than never. The Jets should have had RT's in by the boatload on their bye week to try to replace the guy who was destroying their season.
