I bet the Bears or Texans snag him. As much as he couldnt be any worse than Sanchez, we're stuck with him and signing Orton would only set Sanchez back even more than he already is.
Yeah, we're below both on the waiver wire, as well as the Chiefs. I actually like Kyle Orton. I'd love to have him as a backup right now. I don't believe it would set him back since there's no chance he'd be starting.
Orton is a perfect backup. He's not a good starter, but he's not an awful starter, and if Sanchez went down, I'd be far more comfortable with Orton than most QBs. But there's no way in hell Orton would come to the Jets unless Sanchez gets hurt this week. He'll want to go somewhere he can start this season and then get an FA deal. I see him going back to Chicago, where he's already played with some of the weapons on that team.
It doesn't matter where he wants to go if he gets claimed. Although, actually I think with waivers you can refuse to report.
I know, but how many teams will want to claim a quarterback at this point of the season and assume the remaining $2.5 million he's owed this year? I would think Houston, Chicago, and maybe Washington or Seattle are the only options. And I'd be really surprised with the last 2. And if he goes through waivers, I'm sure he'd go back to Chicago. I bet that's what he wants, and why he asked for his release.
If the offensive line continues to block like pansies it wouldn't matter if we had Joe Montana back there.
Right - a guy on his way to his third team who just got replaced by a QB who can't throw is a better bet to lead this franchise then a 25 year old QB playing behind a swiss cheese line and no running game and a defense that doesn't show up when it counts.
I don't see Houston signing him. They seem, for whatever reason, confident in leinart. Chicago will grab will. But if the Jets had the oppurtunity, I am absolutly all for signing Orton. Besides the playoffs, Sanchez hasn't proven jack shit in the regular season, and I understand our offensive coordinator and O-line(besides Mangold and d-Brick) blows, but Orton is a slight upgrade over Sanchez. Plus it'll provide Sanchez a little motivation.
Chicago will prolly get. But I wouldn't mind the jets getting some REAL depth behind sanchez. at the rate he's going he's gonna get killed.
are you fucking kidding me? you would rather have kyle orton over mark sanchez? not to say mark sanchez is he greatest quarterback in the world but he certainly is heaps and bounds better than kyle orton. do you people even watch football? kyle orton is terrible.
They were fully ready pass the reins to Brady Quinn if Tebow faultered. So I assume they still have enough belief in him to sere as the backup...
How could anyone looking at Brunell standing on the sideline not want Orton signed to this team? Ain't gonna happen but I would like it.
