This is part of the issue. Plax is a one year rental, Edwards and Cotch are gone. Sanchez needs to stop being handed people for a year and keep the same group around for a while. This is where it starts. I say we barely miss the playoffs going 10-6 and we draft a WR
Our receiving corps is out of sync with Sanchez, yes, but I think this team has to find someone to put heat on the opposing quarterback. Are there any likely pass-rush candidates who may be available when the Jets come to select in the first round? This seems the most glaring weakness on this team - we don't apply any heat whatsoever. None.
It's become glaringly obvious that there are many holes the Jets need to address if they want to become a consistently good team. The 2 deep playoff runs combined with some extraordinary luck in the regular season the past 2 years has really had everyone fooled and thinking that the Jets roster was a lot more talented than it was. There really isn't anything to suggest that the Jets above average defense and below average offense is good for anything other than hovering around .500 in a normal year.
Plax had a rusty start but I hope we can keep him. We elevated too many backups that either did nothing to improve their game or shouldn't be starters in the first place.
I would love to have Sanu around... but I think in rd 1 we should look at other positions first. That said if Sanu is the BPA when we pick then why not... I actually had Sanu in rd 1 and Curry in rd 2 in my wishlist some time ago!
Well now, Plax isn't horrible! However he clearly hasn't learned much of the route tree... but in the red zone he's dangerous.
He's not horrible? WR is more than just running routes and being a threat in the red zone. He's reckless and sloppy. He's flagged over and over again for offensive interference. When he's blocking he's getting flagged for holding, etc. The point of him was to command a double team to free up Holmes. It hasn't worked. So, with those goals in mine, he's horrible.
Let's just stop talking about Sanchez being the QB of this team in the future....who wants that shitheads "leading" their team? It just can't happen.
i was always surprised Plax wasn't used as a TE in the past. there has to be some passing plays in there to exploit a match up with a safety or LB.
There's quite a few receivers better than Sanu in this draft. ...but they don't play for Rutgers so you probably don't know who they are. This should probably belong in draft forum too.
Sadly, this year's safety class is incredibly weak. There's not a single safety available that will be an upgrade over Eric Smith and Jimmy Leonhard. We'll be better off looking for someone in free agency. Leonhard's contract runs out after this season. That will be an interesting situation. I wonder if Ryan decides to change things up. This is the player that's supposed to be the quarterback of the defense, right? We've had a ton of mix-ups and mistakes this season.
Before WR are taken care of, Schotty must be replaced and a new RT needs to be added... Then talk about adding people through the draft will only matter
I wasn't on board with bringing in Plax but now that he's here and developed some chemistry with Sanchez (only took until October), for the sake of continuity I think we should keep him for 1 more year. I'm still in favor of drafting a WR in round 2 or 3.
I mean ANYONE but eric smith....seriously...he is garbage...i think if he bulked up he'd be a solid OLB cuz he can tackle but he cant cover shit!....
