The Jets don't threaten the deep part of the field allowing the defense to sit within 15 yards of the line of scrimmage. The haven't all season and it's a joke that the fucking media isn't KILLING THEM for it.

Last night, the Jets receivers were constantly behind the defenders, yet not allowed to run any further because the play designs were all short. On the pick six, Burress was already past the defender, but the play call was for another short out--which the defender could sit on because he didn't fear getting beat deep.

On the Jets penultimate possession, they were gifted with comfortable field position across the 50 yard line, yet still insisted on running on first down, as though they were going to run off 6 minutes on the clock. The Broncos anticipated this chicken shit call and predictably, stuffed the play, setting up 2nd and 9. The call there is to throw on the first down with the defense guessing run, be aggressive.

With Tebow driving for the winning score, Denver is around the 20 with 2 minutes left. Plenty of time to punch one in...yet not TO from Ryan. Still has no understanding of clock management. There is no way the Broncos were going to run out of time, the Broncos were either going to tie it with a FG or win it and the clock was not a factor for them--it was, however, a factor for the Jets, and Ryan did not understand it again, and once again, did not give his QB a real chance to try and mount a QB.

On the Jets last series, you saw Sanchez' best throw on 4th and very long. Why was he able to fire such a strong and accurate pass after some of the "aimed" floaters he had thrown earlier? Because he had the mandate to make something happen...because he knew he had the coaches' greenlight to step into a throw and make the play.

That one throw shows he can do it, when his head is right. When the coaches show faith and give him the tools, the time, and the plays he needs to succeed.

The media including Peter King, and even supposed Jets fan, Mike Greenburg, don't have a fucking clue. It's easy to mouth that Sanchez is the problem because they don't understand offensive scheme and design.

As stupid as they are, Holmes and Burress should be terrorizing secondaries. And they would be if they were activated with some early and consistent deep targets that would give them room to run and Sanchez space to throw in. But Schott doesn't do it, and Ryan is ultimately to blame. All he cares about, thinks about is defense, just like his father.

He should be the D coordinator because that's all he coaches on this team.

We don't gave a big play type of player. Braylon is a huge loss for this offense. He was a deep threat that was able to get open and beat defenses. First year with the Jets he had trouble catching the ball. Second year with the Jets he had trouble off the field. It's too bad he didn't work out bc his hands got better in year two and Sanchez connected with the horse power speed receiver.

Holmes and Burress are all attitude, only care about themselves with minimal big play capability. Burress had the d beat by a step last night, but he doesnt have the hustle to take the rock 50yds to the house. Zero big plays this year.

IMO dump Holmes and Burress, build the o line find a receiver with speed, ground and pound, hb screen and hit with play action. Win with the defense. Be who we are. The 5yd cutesy passes that Sanchez has a tough time figuring out and our receivers have a tough time getting open must stop. Sanchez telegraphs so badly, pick 6 an making me sick.

I'm confused. When exactly did Sanchez progress?

It seems like this isn't even a possibility. We've lost the ability to be a clock control team. Moving forward I think drafting a big body true number one burner (like a BE, Michael Floyd anybody?) and build the offense. That with an OC that can use all of his pieces correctly will win us games. This defense has given up too many drives before the half and at the end of the game for me to trust them this year. It seems like whenever a opposing team needs a big drive whether its to keep the clock going or score, they're unable to produce. Give us a competent offense and that should be how we build for the future, not to enable the same slow moving offense we've grown into this season.

I really wish Braylon wasn't such a locker room and off-field asshole, we're missing his field stretching ability right now. He's the only guy I've seen Sanchez even remotely comfortable with throwing a deep ball to.

If we miss the playoffs, it will be because the front office decided to pass on Braylon.

Frankly, Holmes hasn't impressed me at all this season.

He doesn't get the ball...he doesn't have a chance to make plays..Sanchez is either running for his life or checking down.

I think the problem was people acted like he wasn't good last year, if you watch him play you know he had a good year but looking at the #s it wouldn't indicate that. his is where #s lie sometimes, all offseason we heard about the dopey comp %. His comp % was low b/c he took shots downfield often, now he's taking less risks downfield so his comp % is higher. he's scared to attack yet still turning it over, it's not a good mix. I still think he'll be fine but we need him to get back to last year quickly.

You have to put the decision to go with Wayne Hunter right up there also. The Jets pass protection this year is like a sieve. Both edges are leaking linebackers at an alarming rate.

I think your point on Holmes is good but you have to remember that Holmes has never worked in the type of offense the Jets are trying to run this season. The Steelers took enough shots down the field, many to him but some to Hines Ward, that the defensive backs had to back off. Last year Edwards was a huge deep threat and again there was room underneath.

This year the defenses are just jamming the Jets at the line of scrimmage and bringing the safeties up also. Effectively the Jets are facing a modified 46 out of just about everybody and so the slants and curls are getting disrupted on a regular basis.

Schotty has turned all of the opposing defenses into the '85 Bears.

Look at the NFL situation stats (I'd link but my post count isn't high enough).

This couldn't be any further from correct. Look at his completions, then look at the number of TDs.

61% completion at 11 through 20 yards but Schotty continues to run under 10 yard slant routes.

6 TDs off 103 attempts at 21-30 yards. People want to understand why fans hate Schotty? Because he doesn't play to the kids strengths.

I was a staunch supporter of letting Holmes walk for Braylon. At least Braylon blocked.

Here's the problem in a nutshell though: Tannenbaum and Schotty drafted Sanchez because he was a fit for Schotty's system. If he can't play in that system then there's not a lot of incentive for Schotty to change things around to fit his actual strengths unless he's worried about his job. Since Tannenbaum won't fire Schotty he's not worried about his job.

So we get the same crap over and over again as Schotty tries to make Sanchez work in his system until Rex goes ballistic and heads back for the safe territory of ground and pound.

This really is a closed loop that is only going to end when somebody gets fired.

Have you seen him play this season? I guess if you need to show stats to make you feel better about him throwing deep then that's you. But he is either underthrowing or overthrowing his receivers. There is a reason the playcalling is the way it is.

Doesn't matter...at least the threat is there and they have to respect it....the secondary will have to back off and the slants and short passes will work. You cant throw slants and run the ball if they stack the box with players and Schotty doesn't have the capabilty to adjust.

Sanchez is just not a good NFL level QB. That's all there is too it. On the pick 6, Sanchez had gone to Plax FOUR TIMES IN A ROW. That's not Schotty's fault. That is just a bad QB who cannot even do a proper progression. He can only throw to slants, wheel routes and comebacks. He has no ability to read a defense. Period. He is a one-read QB. It's pathetic. The only time he can throw downfield is on a waggle or rollout where they flood the 15 yards in front of him with 3 receivers. That is pathetic!.

And by the way, does anyone else notice that Sanchez NEVER slides in the pocket?? You never see him slide laterally from pressure. He just stands there and lets it collapse on him. no presence, no movement. No poise. No arm. He's terrible. He should just be an NFL backup. I'd rather have Matt Moore or Skelton who at least have some guts and swagger to them.

The reason the playcalling is the way it is is because of the same reason it's always been since 2006
