The Sanchez bashing is a knee-jerk reaction. Listen, he played a horrible game. No way around it, and no way to defend him tonight. He was under pressure, but you've gotta make it work. But bashing him and saying he'll never make it and counting him out is just not the way to go here. If he is put in a situation to succeed, I seriously believe he could succeed. This offensive system is an absolute mess right now. Is there anybody in this board that could deny that? We aren't getting Andrew Luck this offseason, and Sanchez is still around average in the NFL right now in his 3rd season. He is also a guy who has 4 road post-season victories on his belt. Here's the thing that just gets me angry to no end. When the Jets had Pennington, all I ever thought was "man, this offense could be so good, but its limited by the fact that pennington doesn't have an arm." Sanchez definitely has a good arm. If you don't see that you're delusional. This year, they have not used his arm AT ALL. They have the Pennington playbook right now. Its because their oline is terrible, and they can't handle being a pass first offense. They have a QB that could throw the ball, yet they havent built and offense that allows him to throw deep. Instead they spent time this offseason courting Nmamdi (a position at which they were fine) and ignoring the offensive line. They trusted Wayne Hunter and Matt Slauson to be their rocks, and they trusted friggin VLADIMIR DUCASSE to be their backup....Doesn't that tell you something about what they spent time on this offseason????? Ugh, it just disgusts me. You need to look at the long term, and how they can best right the ship in the near future. I think that right now they need to be taking every avenue to improve that offensive line before next season and put a new coordinator in place to try to mold it into a winning offense. Sanchez has a lot of the blame for tonight, but a knee-jerk reaction with him would only come back to bite them when they realize it wouldn't make them better and he'd probably succeed elsewhere.
Not a knee-jerk when some of us have been saying it since the minute he was drafted. Didn't even bother reading that.
I would have attempted to read that if I wasn't so pissed off about the fake QB that just single handedly beat us by running around like he is still playing for The Gators.
Pennington may have had no arm but he had an ability to read the defense and make good decisions unlike boy wonder
Yes, but those decisions routinely turned into 6 yard checkdowns on 3rd and 9 and the like, not to mention him absolutely crumbling under the kind of pressure that Sanchez has faced this season. The difference between Chad and Sanchez so far this season is that Sanchez has gotten up after at least 6 hits that would have put Chad in the morgue.
Blessing in disguise. I'm in my medicine rotation in January and February, so I wouldn't be able to watch the games in the playoffs anyway. How considerate of them to spare me that frustration.
