I'm sick and tired of the Jets playing down to weaker teams. This has been a common trait ever since Schotty took over as OC. I'm not saying the D and the ST get a free pass....but the offense should be lighting up teams like the Broncos, and the Patriots (last in defense for christ sakes). We've played down to the competition during the 2008 season (w/ Favre)...but that was brushed aside with the old "Favre isn't aclimated to Schotty's playbook". Well, it's still happening with a different QB taking the snaps. A quarterback that has been in the system for 3 seasons. The same shit happened when Pennington and Clemens were alternating in and out of the starting QB position. Schotty doesn't have a consistent QB to learn his system, so how can the Jets offense be successful under his watch was the excuse back then. Schotty is out of excuses.
Something has to be done, before Sanchez regresses even further. it's sad when we lose to a team with a QB that has limited passing skills.
Every time we play a bad team the defense is flawless besides one series, and the offense looks disorganized.
They were for the entire first half. The offense has not put together a single complete game all season.
this is spot on, it seems like this is the case year in and year out..... the D can not stay perfect for an entire game, it is impossible. The O is going to need to step up and Rex needs to get involved. It needs to start on the plane ride home....
But it's always something. Schotty calls wrong plays, Sanchez makes mistakes, rush game inept. Their has been no consistency on offense for the last 3 years. That 1st half against Buffalo the Jets led 10-3 right? And it should've been MORE, they don't play down to opposition, the offense isn't good enough to be that arrogant or have that mindset.
I don't care if we score 25+ points in one quarter or 4 quarters....as long as the offense puts them up. When they score them is irrelevant, as long as we get the "W".
The problem is it's that ONE series we need this REX RYAN coached D to step up on, and they let us down, almost as bad as Sanchez. Sadder than my life!
preaching to the choir. I'd like to believe we have the talent on the offensive side of the ball, to do great things. I think we play down to the competition because Schotty couldn't game plan a high school offense if he tried.
So did they play down to their opponent against Buffalo, then? I just think they match up well with Buffalo, Miami is awful, and we're just not a very good team. I don't think it's "playing down."
if we had played well in the new england game, i'd say this might have merit. fact is, we played crappy teams last year but we won. no matter how you slice it. we beat up on the jags and dolphins this year. so i don't think your assessment is accurate. this team just has major problems and they're the type of team that has to play mistake free football and play GREAT to win games with the way they're currently constructed. They're not talented enough on either side of the ball right now to play bad and win.
We do, and Miami is awful. But I just think we're not better than our competition. I also edited my previous post to that effect to better explain myself.
