    That bothers me too.

I don't know why this CS thought is was a good idea to change what was around him.

Bad comparison, but Rodgers has had the same weapons around him since year 1, and look at him.

There's a great chance Plax is gone, and a new WR gets involved next season.

I'm not sure that argument holds much water, in that they've looked to improve in nearly every single instance.

Adding Edwards, adding Holmes, adding Greene, adding LT, adding Kerley, adding Plaxico, going with Slauson, going with Hunter.

only two real arguments anyone could make, imo would be signing Plaxico when Edwards was available (although everyone expected Edwards to sign for significantly more) and going with Hunter over Woody, but that could be argued as well, considering Woody thought he had so much left, he opted to retire.

No GM is ever going to be 100% flawless in his decisions, and Tannenbaum is correct so often, I really can't argue with his judgement.

....I also think Plaxico will be back, if him and Sanchez continue to show the chemistry they've been building........and if he's not, it's likely only because we've drafted a long term replacement in the WR deep 2012 draft.

The reason that the two slowest positions to develop are QB and WR is that both of them depend on the other and particularly on timing and intuition of what the other is going to do.

The worst thing you can do to a young QB is change his wide receivers every year looking to upgrade. There's no possible development in the communication between two players when they only play together for a year and then one of them moves on.

Mark Sanchez has 45 starts as Jet's QB. Santonio Holmes is now his longest paired wide receiver at 23 games. Plaxico Burress is next at 8 games. Then Jeremy Kerley at 6. That's kind of ridiculous in terms of what you try to do with a young QB.

Dustin Keller is the saving grace because he's been there for all 45 starts.

Don't see how you can cherry pick stats for 20-30 games and say MS compares to this or that Qb when none of the other quarters you mention are in the team situation that MS is in, mainly being that if Brees or Rivers or Manning spends 75% of there games going 3 and out, they have zero chance of winning.

The only quarterbacks that compare to MS in any way are Joe Flacco and Ben Rothlisberger imo.

I think he's doing a good job at spreading it around.

    Holmes
    REC 25 YDS 340 AVG 13.6 TDS 4

    Burress
    REC 23 YDS 322 AVG 14.0 TDS 5

    Keller
    REC 29 YDS 436 AVG 15.0 TDS 2

    Kerley
    REC 13 YDS 105 AVG 8.1 TDS 1

It's not cherry picking, it's saying that if Mark can cut out the bad games he has shown he can be a really good player.

The real point is that Mark is a good QB who has occasional bad games that hurt his averages, rather than a consistently average QB.

Obviously the fact that he has these bad games is a negative that he needs to address.

I agree with all of what you guys said....but then why is everybody so anti-Schotty, when Sanzhez obviousley loves the guy ? Do we want to be doing what SanFran did with Alex Smith for 6 years, replacing systems and OC's every other year ??

That's why I hope Schotty doesn't become a hot candidate for HC -- I want him with Mark another few more years.

How many times do you hear a veteran QB say he knew that one of his veteran WR's would be in such-and-such a place in a key 4th-quarter moment ?

    Continuity, continuity, continuity.

Can someone give me Sanche'z QB rating -- BY QUARTER -- for all his games (incl. playoffs) or just regular season games ??

I bet his Q4 rating is probably 10-15 points HIGHER than his overall QB rating.

Do you know where you can mine just his fourth quarter stats (attempts, completions, TD's, INT's, Yards) without having to go through each game individually?

If so, I don't mind crunching the numbers.

ESPN does breakdowns by quarter. Basically in the regular season Sanchez was terrible in the 4th quarter his first year, poor his second and good so far this year.

    2009 - 50.7 comp%, 7.84 YPA, 1 TD, 9 Int, 42.3 rating.

    2010 - 46.2 comp%, 5.27 YPA, 2 TD, 4 Int, 55.5 rating.

    2011 - 53.0 comp%, 7.05 YPA, 5 TD, 0 Int, 100.9 rating.

That's just regular season. No idea what the playoff numbers are.

The two areas that Sanchez has excelled in this year are the second half, where he has a 94.3 rating and on third down where he is at 97.7. Both with a reasonable number of attempts.

He's still really good throwing to the right or middle and worse going to the left side although it is not the disaster area at this point that it has been for him the last two seasons.

I don't think Plax is gone. i think we'll see him for another year. he's getting better as the season goes on. His body isn't as broken down as his age indicates. funny thing is, he even admitted this past week in an interview on NYJets.com that he's slowly been getting back into football shape and getting his legs back.

He said he didn't have the stamina and it's slowly coming along.

Mark had his first ever perfect day (5/5) to a wide receiver (Plax) this past weekend......I don't think their chemistry or a lack their of, is an issue.

Actually one of his end zone ints earlier in the year drew a "Plax turned outside and Sanchez threw it inside" remark from the announcers after it happened.

The point is that if Plax and Sanchez have chemistry now it's because they went through the muddling through stage earlier, when Plaxico basically vanished from the box scores for a few weeks.

Sanchez entire career in NY has been in the muddling through stage with one or more receivers. Keller has been the constant alongside Cotchery for the first half of Sanchez career so far and now Holmes for the second half.

For the record the Colts changed one wide receiver position in Peyton Manning's first 3 seasons, getting rid of Torrance Small after Manning's rookie season and bringing in Terrence Wilkins.

The Ravens kept their starting receivers in Flacco's first two seasons, adding Kelley Washington to the mix also. They replaced Washington with Anquan Boldin in season three. Then they did a total sweep out except for Boldin in season four and now Flacco is struggling.

The Falcons kept their wide receivers the first two years, adding Tony Gonzalez to the mix at TE in year two. They kept everybody in season three. This year they got rid of Jenkins, Finneran and Peelle and added Julio Jones and Harry Douglas and Ryan immediately took a step back.

Mark Sanchez has been dealing with that kind of instability since his first season.

Come on. When Sanchez is off, he's off to everybody...no matter how many games they've played together. Against the Bills last Sunday, he came out and threw well out of the gate. Too often he starts games throwing behind his receivers. That int. in the end zone was him out of sync with Keller, his so-called "constant"?

Sanchez's inconsistent play is the real issue. Couch potato Carson Palmer hooked up pretty good with rookie Denarius Moore. They've played all of 2 games together. As Mark gets more games under his belt, he'll be able to sync up more consistently with all his receivers.

If the Patriots secondary is as shitty as their numbers reflect, and if Sanchez doesn't come out heaving the ball around like it's a soggy loaf of Wonderbread, he should have a fucking field day. As long he gets more than 3 or 4 seconds to make his throws, I expect to see Kerley open over the top.

I hope Sanchez sees him to.

Sanchez plays well when the running game goes. When we ask him to win a game by himself, throwing the ball 40 times, he rarely does. He forces the ball too often. He still needs the run to set up the pass. Nowadays, elite quarterbacks don't need that. Stafford doesn't need that, Freeman doesn't need that, Newton doesn't need that, and Dalton doesn't need that.

Detroit is 27th in the league in rushing
    Tampa Bay is 24th
    Cinci is 22nd
Carolina is 9th, but if you took out Newton's rushing yards, they'd be 31st

Sanchez is a fine QB, but as of now, he still hasn't shown the potential to be an elite quarterback. Hopefully that time will come soon.

What are the chances we get Braylon back next year? it seems they had fantastic chemistry together, and even though he's, legally, a liability, I think that threat, combined with Plaxico (if we take him back) and Holmes would be just a deadly combination.

It's a risk, I know that and I realize a LOT of people will disagree, but I REALLY would just love to see Plaxico, Holmes and Edwards on this team. It'd just covering basically every need we need as an offense. Holmes for the short, reliable garaunteed throws. Edwards for the deep hail mary throw, and Plaxico for the Red zone threat.

I think Sanchez, especially starting next year would have chemistry and history with all of those receivers and it'd benefit our team incredibly.

Not to mention, I don't see Edwards hitting the F/A market next year with a high value.

The only issue would be Kerley and his integration in our scheme.

Considering how many series their are during a game, does it matter how many interceptions there are, specifically, on the first? I know this offense stutters in the first quarter but I don't think the first quarter is a quantifier for anything. (except for momentum)
