I can't tell you how happy I am that we might have a receiver that can make big plays. Everytime I read one of the TC reports, I get so happy thinking that we might have some long pass plays this year. I am getting sick of watching NFL replays of other teams completing a 10 yard pass, the receiver breaking a tackle, and taking it to the house for a 50 yard TD. It is time that the Jets get on these replays every week and I am thinking that Brad Smith may be the guy to do it.

I was high on Brad Smith in college. I'm real happy we got him, What has anyone heard about his performance/attitude in camp so far?

No, this guy is the real deal. A game-changing player, impossible to tackle in the open field. He's the kind of player that sees the field around him like everything is in slow-motion around him. I hated him for what he did in his last college bowl game   But I've been very excited to have him on my team now

I'd be hesitant to expect too much out of the guy this year, other than special teams help. Most college WRs don't break out until their second or theird year and he is making the transition from QB. I think with a good work ethic we could see some special things out of him next year due to his great athletic ability. Randel El didn't produce much right away either and came from similar circumstances.

Lets put it this way: he'll make you say "Holy Shit" a few times this year.

My hope is that he winds up being more of a Hines Ward(also a former QB) type of reciever than a Randle-El. Hines has been one of the most consistant WR's out there. Thats what I am looking for. While burners make the highlights - it's the guys you trust on 3rd down that move the chains.

I have no problem with having a potential playmaker on the offense. Last year was painful without Santana

I'm pretty pumped about many of our young players, Brad Smith being one of them of course.

Although we are probably looking at another 4-12 type of season, atleast it is with a fresh group that have a high ceiling and potential and will learn from it all. I'm loving the new look Jets.

I think he'll see some action this year. Not a hell of a lot, but some. Kind of like Matt Jones did in Jax his first year. I think Smith is gonna be a gem though.

I'll wait to see some regular season performances from any draft pick before I start to like them. It's nice to hear he's doing well in camp, but the real playmakers usually take time to develop, and are hard to gameplan against.

    Agreed...

I loved the pick in the draft and have since thought he (and Washington) were the under the radar answers to our playmaking needs. Actually I was sold on him when he single handedly beat SC in the bowl game. Unfortunately I haven't gotten to see him play at all so I will have to wait to understand his true brilliance.

    I would take that...lol.

I would totally agree with the posters about the media darlings of summer camps..and how they either get cut late...end up on practice squads..or never contribute during the RS, but this kid has so many pluses that the coaching staff will make him, somehow, a major contributer albeit on a limited basis.
