the last two games, sure. we tried airing it out the 1st four games and are back to ground and pound because "air sanchez" wasn't working! whether it be QB, oline, receivers or the people's favorite excuse, shotty, sanchez hasn't been the most consistant or accurate qb. better the jets stick to what works, "ground & pound"!
Airing it out doesn't work for most NFL teams. A few QB's become elite enough for their teams to *think* they can win a Super Bowl just by going with the passing game despite everybody knowing that's what's going to happen. Peyton Manning and Drew Brees have actually pulled this off once in their career apiece at this point. Most teams and most QB's are going to lose the games where they just say "fuck it, we're airing this baby out." Even the great Qb's can't do that on a regular basis at the end of the season without falling prey to a good defensive effort on the other side.
you were one of the clowns that was claiming sanchez was becoming one of the "elite QB's" of the league last year? so i think that disqualifies you from knowing anything about good or bad QB'ing.
NFL Passes Dropped Rank Team Passes Dropped 1 Cleveland Browns 20 2 Miami Dolphins 18 3 Chicago Bears 17 4 Atlanta Falcons 15 5 New York Jets 14 6 Dallas Cowboys 13 7 Indianapolis Colts 13 8 St. Louis Rams 13 9 Tampa Bay Buccaneers 13 10 Philadelphia Eagles 12 11 San Francisco 49ers 12 12 Carolina Panthers 12 13 Cincinnati Bengals 11 14 Detroit Lions 11 15 Green Bay Packers 11
then we need to start building that way. its all about passing and scoring the way the league is now. you gotta spread some of those better defenses out and make them cover. none, but Brady got closer than mark ever did in 2007. the giants came out fired up and beat them. Brees won it throwing all over the place. Granted the Colt defense got hot in the playoffs in 06 but they still got there in large part from Peyton being able to score through the air. Rodgers last year won it mostly because he was incredibly accurate in the game and he kept the steelers a little off balance. The cards and steelers both played a unbelievable game with great passing attacks. Right now Sanchez hasn't shown me he throw like that with the big boys. not to say he won't get there but at some point hes going to have to do that if we want it all.
MrE May be arrogant, bordering on complete fucking asshole at times, but he knows more about football than 99% of the board. He may argue its 100%, but I'm covering my bases  you can call him many things and be right, but suggesting he is a clown or knows little is way off base.
Our last game against the Pats is case in point. We played a Defensive scheme intended to force the ball out of Brady's hands and did just that. The Down side was we could not stop them from moving the ball on the ground with our 5 and 6 DB sets constantly on the feild. If they had just tried to air it out taht Game ends up much closer.
Mark was terrific today in his weekly spot on the Kay show. Kay begged Sanchez to hang up on him and Lagreca but Mark deferred
The Saints actually had a decent rushing game. I would say the Packers last year pulled it off and the 89 49ers pulled it off. Most of the 49er teams ran the ball very well with the exception of that one. Elway couldn't pull it off and didn't win until he had a great running attack. The Pats haven't won since they put the entire O in Brady's hands which is why I think they are much more committed to the run. The Rams teams which primarliy threw the ball also had a great running attack although they probably lost the SB to the Pats for abandoning it.
He outplayed Rivers so he IS CLEARLY a better QB than Rivers... He played OK? Why does this thread act like he just won the MVP? Made a few decent throws - threw a couple of 2 yard TD passes. But there were still his same issues. Threw a INT in the red zone early. And the one he struggles with - he stares down his recievers. He is lucky the WRs he locks onto can beat their coverage. If he was on Clevland or Tampa he'd be screwed. But one magical day he might start reading his progressions. Cant wait for that day if it ever comes.
Not trying to hate on Sanchez, but he didn't have THAT great of a game. He found Plaxico in the endzone three times, however, and thats what counts. How about this, we wont know how good Sanchez is until he retires. Only then can we make a true assessment. (a bit of an exaggeration, but its a counter to all those who are ready to either anoint or disparage him in his 3rd year)
Pathetic that people revel in other QB's playing poorly meanwhile they overlook the fact that Sanchez is just playing ok. Not great. Just ok. If I made this thread after a bad game for Sanchez saying "Where are all the lovers who praise Sanchez weekly? Where you at!!!" I would get massively criticized and probably banned.
nah we'd just laugh at the perpetual garbage you spew on this board. People who get what's going on have praised him and defended him from the knee jerk idiots and those who think that year 3 coincides with having fantasy football numbers on a run first team that had no OL for 3 games. Sanchez has been playing well, even though those around him didn't help for shit until the past two weeks... and week 1.
wait a minute, when they write that sanchez led the league in dropped interceptions last season it was regarded as a non-issue & considered idiotic that they would even mention that, but now that his own players have dropped passes it's considered something worth taking into consideration...you can't have it both ways.
Jury is still out on all 4 QB's in my opinion Sanchez has never looked as good as Flacco Ryan and Freeman have looked in regular seasons past but Sanchez has been in the most pressure packed situations in the most pressure packed city and has risen to the occasion more than once That are all very young so its natural their performances go up and down So dont bash Freeman Ryan and Flacco... one day you might end up looking as dumb as those who bashed Mark Sanchez (and still do)
INTs count as completed passes? Let that question sink in until you understand how its not even close to having it both ways.
