How did he not screw up by fumbling against Pitt and giving them 7 points. Is that not screwing up. He also took way too much time on the long drive against Pitt because he could not get the ball in the end zone.
Good thing we are knowledgeable football fans that don't evaluate QBs by QB rating or we'd look pretty foolish.
Is just "playing in the postseason" some kind of significant accomplishment for a QB? Both Henne and Sanchez were doing the exact same thing on Super Bowl Sunday. Watching the game.
The pass completion at the end was a play that very few QB's could have made under that kind of pressure. Roethlisberger kept the play alive and then made the completion and killed the Jets. He was horrible on the day but he was big when it counted. If the Jet's D didn't take the first half off we win running away in that game.
That game just irks me, they wer so lifeless to start that game. I saw such a difference in pregame from the NE game to the Pitt game. I can't buy they used up all their emotion in NE, this was for the SB. I got such a sinking feeling watching them come onto the field in Pitt and unfortunately that feeling became reality. Ben made plays in the first half too, they gashed in the run game but he amde some huge throws and kept plays alive. he helped us get back in it before slamming the door on a play that had no business working and only works w/ a guy like ben.
Yes, if the QB was the team's regular starter and he did not play with an all-time great offense or defense. Trent Dilfer played in the postseason in 2000 and aside from a pass here or there was not particularly good. He benefited greatly by playing on a team with a historically great defense. That was not the case with Sanchez last season. He had to play well on occasion last year and he did. Sanchez directed multiple game-winning drives late in the 4th quarter or overtime in 2010. Without those wins, the Jets would not have made the playoffs.
who cares. Lets see Sanchise win a Super Bowl. If the Jets had a top 10 qb then maybe they would have won a super bowl already. your pathetic to be content with losing every year in the playoffs. I am tired of the misery of losing every year.
Sanchez is a third year franchise QB doing exactly what a third year franchise QB should be doing, and then some. Of course his stats are jumpy, he started one year in college before being dropped into a starting position in the NFL, and with that he has done more than any other QB and in less time. Say what you want about how his stats compare to Henne or anyone else, hes a good QB and as the years progress he WILL become more consistent; the one knock anyone seems to have on him. Josh Freeman doesn't even compare, don't make me laugh.
Everybody in this debate needs to remember that we're just going through a cyclical phase in the NFL at this point. The requirements to win a Super Bowl change fairly frequently and we happen to be in a phase where a lot of teams with big passers have won by throwing the ball a lot. Defenses will adjust to that, as a number of teams are already doing, and then having the big passer won't be as important as something else, whatever that something turns out to be. Looking at the free agency era forward there have been patterns of dominance that go something like this: 1995-1999 were triplets with every team but the Packers having a great QB, great RB and great WR or two good wide receivers instead. The Packers had the #1 defense in the NFL and won it on that and Brett Favre. 2000-2005 were great defenses winning every year. Every team that won in those years had a top 6 defense and every team but the 2001 Patriots who were kind of a flukey winner (backup QB in his first season, tuck rule) had at least a top 3 defense. 2006-2010 has been the era of the QB. With two teams winning despite having mediocre defenses and every team except the 2007 Giants having a QB expected to carry the load on his own for extended periods of time. The only thing I know for sure is that moving forward something else will be the key factor in who wins or loses each year. The odds on the QB being the sole factor that is important are likely to go down dramatically as NFL teams adjust to that new reality by running pressure defenses like the ones the Jet's, Ravens, Packers and Lions are running. Why is the opposing QB not the biggest factor in games the Jets and the Ravens play right now? Because those teams sell out on taking the QB out of his comfort zone and making teams beat them in other ways. Why are the Jets 3-3 against the Patriots the last few years? Because the Patriots have become overly reliant on Tom Brady to win the game for them and it's very possible to make him lose the game instead if that is all you are concentrating on doing. The Ravens have also beaten the Pats using this same formula.
If Sanchez didn't lay an egg in the first 3 quarters of those games, he wouldn't have needed late game winning drives. But my point remains the same, just playing in the playoffs and winning a few WC and Divsion games, really means nothing. Think anybody would remember Trent Dilfer if he only won a WC and Division playoff game in 2000?
Huh? You are the one who brought up Chad Henne. Obviously, you care. Some moderator, any moderator, get this fellow a Chad Henne avatar. Am I content that the Jets are losing every year in the playoffs? No. You obviously confused me with someone else. I suggest you give up being a fan of the NFL. Do not follow it anymore. Focus on college football and root for one of the schools that have a rich tradition and are good almost every year. Alabama, Southern Cal, Texas, Ohio State, Florida, Nebraska, and Michigan are all good possibilities for you.
Sanchez is a top 4 qb based on how far the Jets go. He is a superior talent who is in the same class or better than Brady. Stats are meaningless. Sanchez has gone farther than Brady 2 years in a row. He is the best player on the Jets by far. He is a true franchise qb and a leader who is worth every penny of the 14.75 million he is earning this year. STATS are irrelevant. WINS Count. If Sanchez were on the pats the last 2 years PATS would have won 2 Super BOWLS. SANCHEZ MVP talent
Sanchez is a top qb. He is top 5 period. Brady stinks compared to Sanchez. Sanchez led the JETS to beat the Colts. His 65 qb rating is irrelevant. He won the game. SANCHEZ won the game. The Jets defense had nothing to do with it. It is all Sanchez. Sanchez will win atleast 3 Super Bowls.
There is a reason he started one year in college and it is not a good one. He was in and out of trouble in college if you look it up. Oh hush hush.
