Actually, I think the earlier they settle on a starter, the better it will be for the team. Chad can now get the majority of the reps in practice, which is important because he is learning a new offense (again).

I'll have to say, I will be more surprised if he is still the starter say Wk 5 than I am by this announcement.. I'm hoping for the best because we all know a healthy Chad Pennington gives the team its best chance to win every Sunday..

coaching staff is keeping a pitch count on me- Chad pennington. So lets not all freak out when he isnt getting alot of reps.

Let's just hope that Chad will improve upon his poor reads from last year. I'm not sure if you remember, but one knock on him last year, besides arm strength, was that his reads were horrible, missing receivers and that opposing D's were able to read his eyes without much effort.

A pitch count is one thing...taking reps with the first team rather than the fourth team is another. If he's going to be limited, he should practice with the first team as much as possible. After all, in a real game, they can't take him out after thirty pass attempts or whatever.

I would call bullshit on your info. I've been to 4 practices, and Clemens has looked very good so far. He'll make a bunch of throws, short, intermediate and deep and look really impressive.... then he'll make a rookie mistake to remind you that that's what he is, a rookie. I haven't seen anything to make me think he isn't going to be a very good NFL QB, but he hasn't seen a full blown NFL defense yet either.

Based on the last 3 practices, it looks to me like Ramsey is the odd man out, getting almost no reps in the 11 on 11's (and the Jets run about an hour of these each practice) and even being held out of the 3 QB rotation drills.

Chad has looked good, even very good at times, but he still throws some ducks, and report or no, he needs to be more accurate consistantly than he's shown IMO.

Ramsey has an incredible arm, but too often over throws his recievers. Bollinger has been maybe not so surprisingly very steady, and I'd trust him more than I do Ramsey as a backup. Having said that, I would not be surprised if Mangini keeps all 4 this year. If Chad gets hurt, and he hasn't taken any hits obviously, the Jets will need all 4 of them.

Ya know...For all the nay-sayers and doubters, I myself have my doubts on his health...

You simply HAVE to give Chad 150% credit for coming back from his 2nd shoulder surgery...That's guts man. People said he would have to retire or its over...

    Now look.

Chad is my favorite Jet, so I am happy. I hope he regains his form.

I'm happy to hear this. But I remember the MIN pre-season game last year when he looked great. Then we went to KC and all hell broke loose. I love Chad. But I won't be concvinced he's ready till I see him work effectively in a regular season game.

I love when these writers have their secret sources, that have to remain annonymous. And this annonymous person always seems to know more than the coaching staff.

He has to be healthy for the games to start them. Not likely

That's not guts, it's looking for a paycheck. It was either he came back or found another line of work.

Oh cmon man, even if he couldn't come back he'd be set for life with the rookie contract he got and his big signing bonus Bradway gave him when Chad got his big pay-day...He didn't need to find "another line of work."

That's heart and proving people wrong that he can come, when about 95% of analysts and fans said that coming back from 2 shoulder surgeries in consecutive years was virtually impossible...

You have to give this man credit.

I definitely give him credit, but I'm still not convinced he is the answer at QB. My fingers are crossed though....

    yeah, im on board.

it definitely will be a comeback story worth watching though. wish him the best but even in the best case scenario he wont be the starter in 2 yrs. maybe even 1 if Clemens fits the bill.

I don't think the surprise is him coming back, it will be him coming back, being effective and making it through a full season, that will surprise me..

well i didnt mean it like that, im in total agreeance with you. but if the guy can stay healthy 16 games and win 8 that would be a feat of glory in my eyes.

mostly cause i dont expect it to happen as much as id like to see it.
