Yup, we were better off without a one legged Abraham taking getting dominated on the line every snap.
I agree that it was what he said that damned him. I was upset at first, since it appeared he was just trying to assure his payday. After the actual info came out, that he couldn't have played if he wanted to, it didn't make sense to be mad at him.
Yeah, that was the beginning of the end for JAbe in NY. If you do not have the heart to go out and play in the biggest game of your life then when will you? If JAbe was making 6th round money on his first contract and was going to get the chance to cash in for the first time the following season it would have been somewhat understandable. But he wasn't. He signed a good contract the first time around and had money in the bank. A player with no heart is never going to find one late in his career. JAbe had no heart.
i was the biggest john abraham supporter there was at the time, and i still am. as much as we could say, if abes in there for that game at 100%, the jets have a better chance of winning, that wasnt an option. abe couldnt even run 80%, those were the reports comin from herm, and the front office, and there would be no reason to lie just to sacrifice johns long term future. had abraham played it probably would have hurrt the jets more than it would have helped. as much as i think the jets win the game if abrahams starting at DE at 100%, i still think the jets lose it if he was starting at DE at 65%. and btw the game was in 2004.
No, I am over it. Our D played great w/o him and it wasn't the D that cost us that game. it was our O and STs.
What killed us, imo, was when Ellis had to come out of the game for a series. If I remember correctly, Pitt just ran all over us then, which led to their td in the fourth. Sucks.
