they day that the Jets won their second division title? Please include the glorious moment when Veniteri's kick beat the fish!
In my family room, first flipping between the Pats/Dolphins and Browns/Falcons. Then when the Pats won I flipped over to the Jets game and saw the crowd going NUTS as they showed the result on the screen there. Then I watched the complete domination that unfolded.
I was in the meadowlands flipping out like a ninja in the upper deck. What a glorious moment in Jets history. Their was no way the Jets were losing to the Pack after that.
Snowboarding at Mammoth in CA. I was wearing my Mo Lewis jersey over my jacket. A bunch of people made comments on the slopes and giving me updates on the score. (Watched the end of the fins game in the lodge.)
I'll never forget that weekend for the rest of my life. I actually made a HUGE list of what had to happen for the Jets to get the Wildcard. On Saturday, both teams that needed to lose, LOST. I was So pumped up going into Sunday. One of two teams needed to lose, and the gets got the WC. If Miami lost and the Jets won, they got the division. Wouldn't you know it, but BOTH WC contenders won, clinching the WC, and then Miami had that HUGE lead. I got so upset. My wife said "Don't give up! It isn't over yet." It was at that moment, I made a vow to my wife that I would later regret... "If the Jets win the division, I will do all the dishes for you today buck naked" In case you are wondering, I DID hold up my end of the vow. There wasn't a stitch of clothing on me. And of COURSE that was the day she made tomato sauce in the old iron pot!
At the game.... I remember seeing New England down 24-14 with something like 5 minutes remaining in the game. I thought that the game I was about to see would be meaningless, but than I remember hearing from someone else in the crowd that the game was going into OT. Then I heard Vinatieri's kick go through the uprights over another's radio and the crowd let out a HUGE roar. I think everyone on the field knew what just happened. The rest is history... Damn that was the best day in recent Jets history...
In the bedroom watching the games on sunday ticket. Called my mom as the Jets game started to comiserate over the soon to be over season. Gave her the play by play as the Fish imploded, and pretty much just freaked out when the Pats finally won.
I was sitting in one of my brokers boxes at the stadium, watching the pats/fins game on the TV. We had the windows open and were updating everybody sitting down in section 101. That was an awesome day.
At Don Shulas Steakhouse in the Swan hotel in Disneyworld. My friends were calling me from the game every 10 minutes. Afterwards, I was in the parking lot of a Walmart or something listening to Howard David do the Dolphins postgame. The calls by the angry Dolphins fans were classic. That was his first year doing Phin games, after leaving the Jets.
i was in my living room going nuts! the fished got fryed, we ripped the pack and became division champs. F*cking Awesome!
it started a week before hand, on my birthday, i scoured the internet for tickets to the jets greenbay game, last game of the year, i had to see it. found some overpriced but awesome seats, and purchased them. Gameday had my whole tailgate setup grill tv cooler everything. the whole time me and my dad are going over the crazy scenario that has to happen, he is reserved but i 100% believe something is going to happen, so im trying to convince him the whole day. were flipping between the browns and pats games, its getting closer to game time, everyone is heading in, it all seemed lost, lets just go in and try to enjoy the game. we started walking towards the stadium, all the sudden the parking lot explodes, the ppl in the espn tent are all yelling theres cars honking everywhere banners flying, me and my father have no idea whats going on so we run in to the espn zone with the sattelite tvs. it seemed NE was starting a comeback we were hooked along with the other 200 ppl. the jets game going on iside the stadium 1000 feet away didnt even exist anymore, eveyone in the tent became one group , not just you and your friend. NE tied it and everyone lost it, high fiving everyone strangers hugging, just insanity, it was awesome. all the sudden we remember theres a jets game going on and we hurry into the stadium, nothings really happened yet and we start watching the game, there are ppl on there cell phones and everyone is talking about the pats game. all the sudden the ppl on the cell phones gave out the report, Vinateri had kicked the game winner! the crowd just erupted and the jets defense was lining up on the field. they started looking around like they were saying" what? we didnt do anything yet..." then it came on over the jumbotron and pa sytem. and that was it. tranform into game mode, its no longer just a game this means something now, you could feel the change in vibe, it got serious. all this built up and then the jets went on to destroy greenbay, it was just an awesome game, and that chrebet td was just an awesome sight, it was the best day as a jets fan i have ever known and am glad i didnt have it behind a piece of glass.
I was at a bar/nightspot on Sunset Blvd. in Hollywood called Dublins. On Sunday this place really came alive with tons of fans (the place was huge). Unfortunately they closed this place down because they "didn't like the element that was going up there" . As a matter of fact there was a Jay-Z song where he referenced this place ".....bubblin' at Dublin's".
Actually that was their fourth division title (see 1968 and 1969). But...I was watching on TV with my 3-month-old boy in my lap. I was switching between the two games while I was taping the Jets game. So my tape shows the channels switching and catching the winning kick in New England. So I can revisit the moment any time.
in my room flipping between the pats game and falcons game...then the missed kick i went nuts and it cut right to the jets packers game and i knew it was a wrap
in my room flipping between the pats game and falcons game...i remember dunn running up the middle at the goal line and coming up short...hope slipping away...then the missed kick i went nuts and it cut right to the jets packers game and i knew it was a wrap
I was living in North Carolina two doors down from a Packer fan! As a NY fan, I got the Giants-Eagles game, the end of the Pats-Fins game, and the Jets game. Couldn't have gone better. Matt Bryant kicks the game-winner over Philly in OT, the Pats rally, and the Jets smoke Green Bay. I have it all on tape! I was home alone, so I was doing a lot of loud cheering and yelling. Best of day of football I can remember.
