What don't you get, dude? This is really a last ditch effort by the guys on the offense to get a change in the system. This has been 6 years of underachieving on offense. 6 years. If they've been taking their issues in-house to Schottenheimer and he hasn't adjusted or changed anything, then the onus is on him. If they're taking it public, I'm pretty sure they've tried to address it in the locker room. These guys want to win, they know we have the talent to win, and right now we're not getting it done and we're not developing our QB right.

Sanchez already said they aren't going to be dishing out soundbites to the media anymore, so I'm confident we won't hear anymore outbursts from the receivers.

    Again, I say...

This is the exact footprint of what happened when someone wanted Brian Billick on the hot seat in Baltimore, too. Does nobody else see the likeness? Just me? Okay.

Sometimes... Things go public to help coaches get leverage, too. I wouldn't make the assumption this is solely a power play to help the WRs "get their way" with Rex. You have three WRs saying THE BALL SHOULD BE RUN MORE. That doesn't sound like a crazy selfish power play, at hand, right there.

Personally, I think it could extend much higher and further than that (especially given the allegations Jenkins made about why Schotty is still around). The leaks might be happening due to someone higher up than the WRs needing an insanely bright spotlight on the issues-- so that there's leverage for them to make difficult moves. So they can say... Brian's lost the team, Brian's productivity has been this, Brian's QB has a 1:1 TD/INT ratio, Brian's play calling is... LOOK. LOOK. He has to go.

I work in marketing/mass media for somewhere I'd rather not relay, but, things aren't always as straight forward as they might seem when they get put out there... I wouldn't assume this is the WRs leaking this, and/or I wouldn't assume it's them leaking this for their OWN purposes. I think the "leak" whoever leaked it, might be to help "EVERYONE's" and/or Rex's purpose. Who knows, maybe I'm off base and totally wrong, though.

Burress is suppose to shut up this year. If true, getting involved in this mess doesnt look good for him.

As for Schotty : Off with his head!

I am glad the players are going to Rex and voicing their concerns. I think it's bullshit whoever went public with it.

    Hell froze over.

WRs went to their HC asked to run the ball more.

    Wow

Was thinking the same thing. This isn't the typical "Wahhhh I want the ball more." These guys want to win and they know with shitbag's gameplan they are at an immediate disadvantage.

You seem to be the one who doesn't get something.

The fact that the QB had to come out to the media and say they wont be doing this in public is bad.

I'm not saying anything about the criticism being wrong, it isn't. If schotty wasn't public enemy number one nobody would be happy the wr's on this team are going to the media to whine.

People want schotty gone so they are cool with it. I would rather not tank this season with two wr's who wont be on the team next year leading the way. Everyone already hated schotty so I dont see what is being accomplished by bringing this to the public. It just makes a bigger headache and bigger mess.

Dead on..totally agree...100%....but as usual the main theme is missed.

"We just grind for everything," a source told The News. "Nothing's ever easy."

Fuck everything else..sorry for the f word..but screw everything else you read...hear...believe etc.

That is the line that some of us anti Schotty's have had a difficult time finding and explaining our out and out hatred for his style.

"We just grind for everything," a source told The News. "Nothing's ever easy."

Thats it. Some will say its because our offensive line sucks...our qb sucks...our receivers are all former felons..blah blah blah.

Thats the only way to describe the natural child birth of a 18 lb baby being born in the middle of the desert which is...the Schotty game plan. 3rd and 3 and sending out 3 receivers and a tight end..all running 3.1 yard patterns. 1st and 10...time to get friggin nutty and throwing a cross the field 2 yard sideline pass..or a 15 yard behind the line of scrimmage reverse.etc...etc...etc...etc..etc...etc...LT out of the backfield..etc..etc..etc.

I feel so relieved that someone...albeit a source...explained it better than any of us ever could.

He always shut the fuck up? Is that why he bitched until this team cut him loose?

Cotch is having a hell of a year on the bench in Pittsburgh...

Sorry, B, this is an irrelevant metaphor. Baseball and Football have totally different locker room dynamics. Baseball is still ultimately an individuals game, while football is the ultimate team game. ANYONE'S success in football is completely dependent on the other 45 guys

Oh come on you know what I mean... he shut the fuck up and did his job for 6 years without EVER complaining. He walked away like a little bitch but in the season he always kept his head down and worked hard...

And Cotch is on the bench because Wallace, Sanders and A. Brown have been in the system and are one hell of a trio...

It's great that the WR's are speaking up and trying to make changes for this team, but this kind of player criticism absolutely should not be leaked to the public. It undermines Schotty and it's gonna hurt the offense even more as he's not going to put 100% effort into a team that's talking behind his back to the public. If you want to get rid of Schotty, do it before or after the season. Getting rid of him during the season would force the offense to learn a lot of new things with little preparation time; even if someone in-hosue comes in and becomes OC.

Regardless of the accuracy of the indictment by these three guys, the decision to leak this to the press was a big mistake. Anyone remember the Ray Handley era? The press is going to feast on this dissention if it continues.

not for nothing Mick, but did anyone really expect Rex to open the next press conference telling the world the story is true? Of course they will deny, doesn't mean it isnt true. But it certainly seems there is trouble brewing in Jetland. Here's to hoping for a win today to fix all our woes.
