Hartsock AND Turner. We lost our top 2 blocking tight ends from last year, not to mention Cumberland. Mulligan isn't terrible, but we need help at tight end, no doubt about it.
You might be right, I haven't been paying that much attention to him when he's on the field, and I don't have DVR. When I see him, he's not doing good things. He's certainly not good. Cato, I just threw Cumberland in because I was talking about injured tight ends. Obviously, he's not a good blocker.
Lost a pass catching TE, we're bringing in a blocking TE? Wonder if it has to do with Rex's proclamation about the Ground and Pound coming back. http://forums.theganggreen.com/showthread.php?t=68121
Or that we lost two blocking tight ends already, one in the offseason, one in preseason, and Mulligan isn't cutting it.
we don't really need two pass catching TE's when we have 3 very good WR's. We need more "beef" on the line to improve our running game.
Not saying anything that hasn't already been said but this would be a great signing. He provided a lot of protection for Phillip Rivers over the years and if the Bears had any interest in protecting Cutler, they wouldn't have cut him. I'm not sure how he's still a FA, but if we can pick him up, that's a great signing.
Apparently we're not signing him straight away... don't like this. He's past his injury problems and could really help us out in pass pro.
Jumbo sets are a must for us, so we need to sign another blocking TE. Baker and Cumberland are mediocre blockers and don't really enhance the running game. Manumaleuna is a good blocker who will help the running game. He also has better receiving skills than Mulligan. I could see him as our number 2 TE after the bye week. Frankly, I'm surprised he was available. I hope he is healthy.
Brandon had good years in San Diego as a blocking for L.T. He ain't a bad reciever as well. Good move If it is true
