7th rounder? Read they are asking for a 3rd. Plus, he's owed $21 million through 2012. Best LB prospect in a decade, right Casserly?
He's done in Seattle and I doubt they get more than a 5th for him. He's probably better suited to be a thumper in the 3-4. There was a time when some of the tards in our fanbase wanted Curry over Stafford. Thank God that did not happen and Millen was far, far away from Detroit..
So you're saying the Jets are in dire need of a lemon after they released Maybin. I hear you..............
Yeah, I couldn't believe that talk. I remember arguing with a Dolphins fan at work about it. He thought Detroit should take Curry. I felt Stafford was going to be good. Curry? Not really. I know a big Seahawks fan who would regularly be nominated for the TGG most knowledgable poster award if he posted here. This is his take on Curry- ". . .he's average at best in coverage, can't rush the passer at all and he misses a lot of tackles and he's only made one impressive play in his entire career. He misses arm tackles on slow QB's, let alone RB's and WR's. I wouldn't say he's good at anything, and he's average against the run and weak in every other aspect of OLB'er so...if we get anything 3rd round or better for him I'de be shocked and very happy..."
If the issue is eating his contract I think the Jets could try and rework his deal to front load that money to this year if traded for. We have about 8-9 mil in free space not used by anyone, if we give up a 4th or 5th or 6th for Curry I think it would be the smartest option.
Definitely would be worth a shot for a low-round pick. I really liked this guy coming out've college. Seahawks had the makings of what looked like would be an awesome long-term LB core with Hill, Tatupu and Curry. Now? Not so much.
Not going to profess to know anything about, well, anything. But I have questions for you, your friend, everyone else: Was he projected as a strong side 4-3 lb coming out of college? Would scheme or positioning affect the above analysis? The missing tackles part is concerning, and I can't say I've seen a single Seahawks game (that I can remember) to agree or disagree, but if he has been that way in the NFL, then fuck that, we've had enough issues with tackling (or lack thereof) as it is.
He was seen as a strongside OLB, not a terrific passrusher but a good blitzer, good in space and good against the run. In the NFL however he hasn't been strong enough to shed blocks in the run game, and struggles in coverage. When on the Weak side he is a bit better, but struggles with tackling in the open field and getting to the QB on blitzes. I have heard some articles say a few people think he'd be better with a hand on the ground as a cover 2 DE, but he'd still be a liability against the run.
I suppose we could trade for him and use him as the long-term replacement for Scott but that's obviously a pipe dream.
was too lazy to read the article but when I searched "Jets" "rex ryan" Tannenbaum or new york none of them came up.
