If Jason Campbell takes care of the ball I don't see a reason the Raiders can't make the playoffs this year. Hell of a D-Line and playmakers on offense.

And though it sounds almost silly to say, their kicking game makes a difference.

The defense & special teams didn't step up today. More disappointed by Rex's D today than the special team though.

Hope they beat Ravens next week, or else we might be 2-3 in 2 weeks.

I think Sanchez has improved, but he is like his USC counterpart in Barkley in that he can still be maddeningly inconsistent but has games and flashes of brilliance, especially in no huddle.

Also, another problem is the o-line has gotten worse as has the run game. Also our receivers aren't as good as last year. Kerley is no Brad Smith and I'd rather have Edwards to Plax and Cotchery to Mason.

    Time to address my points.

    1) They did not do it. Janikowski amazingly did not get all of his kickoffs in the endzone but he accidently(Or maybe intentionally) made Cromartie have to make a tough decision to catch the ball on the fly, which ended up being a backbreaker. Lechler outside of the 1 big Kerley return got the best of Kerley today, in particular his final punt.

    2) The running game had its moments. When they ran on the left, they had great success. Somewhat on the right but the running up the middle as expected did nothing worth note. I was surprised that LT did alright on the ground, and also am surprised McKnight got zero touches from the backfield

    3) They got Sanchez throwing on the run and outside of his silly turnover, he did as good of a job as he could. Sadly, even that was not enough as the Raiders got to him plenty, especially in the 3rd quarter. Sanchez when he stood in the pocket got hardly any time to do anything worth note which moving forward is not going to help. Baxter held his own in this game but even then the presence of Mangold was certainly missed.

    4) Moore really clowned Cromartie badly here and while I heard the hype of Moore, I did not think he would abuse Cromartie this much. I was surprised Revis was not put on Moore eventually after the 1st 2 flags. No Ford did hurt Oakland a bit but Derek Hagan and Kevin Boss each fueled up a midfield attack that Oakland had some success upon.

    5) The Raiders O-Line manhandled the Jets D-Line in this game on passing downs. Jets held up on blitzes since Hagan, and Boss were showing they were capable down the field and likewise Campbell made the Jets pay 1-2 times with his feet. Campbell did not put up big numbers but he looked composed and really sure in the backfield. Jets did not get much pressure on him if any at all.

I was wrong on Michael Bush, in particular that one catch that I still don't know how the Jets D lets that happen. Bryan Thomas coverage was atrocious even if he is an LB. Bush is not quick nor should he beat anyone down the sidelines on 3rd down. I was dead wrong on McFadden's damage in the backfield too, he absolutely trounced the Jets. I knew he would get his numbers but I thought more so on screens or on checkdowns.

Figures Oakland would win...even though I thought it would have been more like a 20-16 type of score. Oakland was not as undisciplined as I thought they would be but they still had their routinely hiccups that almost bit them. They tried to force Greene on the Raiders and it worked sometimes, and sometimes they went down on the well one too many times. I was shocked there was not enough of jawing back and forth among teams, I would have thought the Jets would have tried to get into hotheads like Khalif Barnes head and have them commit personal fouls.

While I'm always on the refs when they're bad they weren't the reason.

We made so many mistakes. Our Play calling went to shit once we got the lead, predictable.

We didn't throw one fukin bomb today.. not 1 and Oakland played their defense 10-15 yds....that took away all of our short routes which is 99% of our plays under Shotty.

While this is understandable when your O-line is in shambles it shouldn't make you play right into their hand.

oh, and Today we get down 14pts in the 4thQ and yet again, we run on 1st & 2nd down....

Every week Pace doesn absolutely nothing and our outside LB's are constantly getting beat when they are put in pass coverage....

    "he ain't pretty no more..."

    Hey, it adds character

  10. So it's legal, then.

The Jets can punch other teams' QBs in the nose and break it, without penalty. The precedent is set.

True. But fuck Cimini for using that quote.

Shotty sucks, thats all there is.

Fire his ass in mid season, that will send a message. OK the end of the year is more likely. If Shotty is our OC next season, Woody needs to fire whoever is in charge or picking personnel.

What's wrong with your offense? You guys were half a yard a way from putting up 31 points. Your offense didn't lose this game, your defense did. You can't give up 200+ yards rushing and then blame it on the offense.

Yes, the defense played as worst I have seen in a long, long, long time. Its rare.

What is constant is Shottys poor play calling and Sanchezs bad decissions.

    its a team game

you cant put all the strain on your defense when they are keeping one of the most talented backs in the league. the offensive gameplan should be to keep them off the field, and when it doesnt work, they should be making adjustments. ive said this so many times but its true. you cant leave your defense on the field the entire game and expect to win. offenses are built to outlast defenses. its part of the game. thats why when you have an elite defense your offense tries to manage the game by sustaining long drives rather than quick scoring drives. when your offense cant stay on the field for more than 2 minutes at a time you have a problem.

There has been a constant witch hunt @ the offensive coordinator. No matter how badly the defense or special teams does, the majority of posters pissed about this game will say it's the playcalling or offensive coordinator that blew it.

Jet O had the ball for 6+ more minutes. Also, even though Sanchez does well in the hurry up, he only gets to use it right before halftime or when game is ending. For the same exact reason you just stated ... to give the Jets D a chance to rest up.

These games happen every year, we'll see another 1-2 clunkers like this. The problem is we have 2 tough road games coming up so we really needed this raider game. At worst we need to split these next 2 weeks.

    Some positives:

-The running game got going a bit, they were very effective on the ouside but nothing inside.
    -LT was great
    -Plax did some nice things
-mark showed toughness even though he didn't have a great game

so i was wrong about them being on the field all game, but the breakdown of the drives would help prove my point. the offense really dropped the ball when they decided to go for it on 4th and 2 at the raiders 37. a punt there and you presumably pin them deep and let our defense have a chance rather than give them the momentum and the ball at their own 37 yard line. in field goal range already pretty much. with a tie game. its rex's fault too for letting it happen, and hell maybe he told him to do it. but what is apparent is that something with the coaching is going wrong, and the jets offense and special teams is responsible for giving oakland ample opportunity to score. take away those 2 scores and the game is still tied.
